Thanks for telling your story.

I'm at the beginning of my scaphoid story. Went over the bars 3 months ago. I dislocated the wrist broke and the scaphoid and a few other bones, tore two ligaments, that were surgically repaired. Just had another x-ray and only one side of the screw is healing with the scaphoid, and one part of the bone looks to possibly be dieing.Sad
The scar tissue is giving me problems also, I have a good scar on my palm and back of my hand.
I was hoping to be able to ride buy January, as I'm all paid up for on a MX holiday in califonia, for A1.
But after reading all the scaphoid horror stories I think I will just leave my gear at home.

I also wanted to know if anyone has had any luck with any sort of supplements, like silica, vitamin D, calcium. Or any sort of electronic stimulation devices/ultrasound? To help recovery.

I will definitely be getting a mobius brace when I'm in the US.

Transscaphoid and perilunate dislocation? That's a bad injury for sure. Sad
I actually shattered my radius and then both radius and ulna came out the side of my arm together. It was really messy and took 4 surgeries to get it fixed up to where it is now. All things considered I'm happy with how they fixed it even though they keep telling me I will almost for sure need a wrist fusion in the future because of arthritis. I'm getting really pretty descent movement out of it because I'm hammering out physio and stretches at home big time and hoping to try it on a sled soon then get back to racing in spring, no doubt with a möbius brace.

Hi Guys, Scaphoid injuries are no joke! I had fractured mine way back in 1987 when I was about 22. Did not know it was actually broken at the time and kept on racing mx. After 3-4 months, it was still bothering me as much as it did 2 weeks after I broke it. Went in to the Mayo Clinic where a wrist specialist did a somewhat experimental surgery for the time , with a bone graft taken from my hip, with pins. I had a cast on from the tip of my thumb to nearly my shoulder , that got progressively shorter over the 9 month healing process until I was released. After lots of stretching exercises, I was able to race and work without much problem for the next 27 years until BAD arthritis set in. (during the surgery they had to take out some cartilidge) It had worn down to be bone-on-bone. The Drs I saw were talking about fusing the joint at my then 51 years of age. I was trying to look at other options, and tried the stem cell procedure. This has been a lifesaver for me, as over a 6-8 month period I have been able to return to 75% of normal ( still with pain/limited movement, but nothing like what I was experiencing prior) My injury was not nearly as bad as what some of you have experienced. I wish you all the best of luck, and all the innovations that modern medicine can produce!
