Will Alessi win one?

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 12:27pm
Mike Alessi looked really good at Indy. He always gets great starts and seems to be getting closer to the pace of Stewart and Reed. He even passed Stewart back (even though it was only for a second).

I think he will win Salt Lake City!

As much as I like Alessi I highly doubt Alessi winning a race while James and Chad are both healthy - Given that Indy was his first podium of the year I think someone else has a better chance of winning other than CR and JS

I think his best shot at winning would be Daytona. I would llike to see some more rides like last week.

Agree. But don't think he will or can beat 1 or 7.

He could win Daytoner . . . IF JS and CR both fall in the first turn, DNF, or something similar to what happened when Grant won A1.

The main thing I want to see him do is stay healthy until the outdoors which is just around the corner. He's been riding smart and I hope this recent podium doesn't give him the "fever" and cause him to get all whiskey throttle on us.

He looked great in outdoors before that horrendous wreck. I like his attitude that he can win and just doesn't settle for second behind Bubba. You can tell and he has said he really wants to beat Bubba but many other riders just kinda settle because they think that Bubba is untouchable. As for Supercross he is looking better this year but I don't think a win will happen in Supercross-at least not this year-outdoors possibly.

If I read this correctly, I think you left out the word "think." If so, I totally agree with you.

I was thinking for some reason the Daytona SX had more laps and more riders in the main event than the other SX events, and was more like an outdoor race, but I just saw the race schedule on RacerX, and it looked the same as the other races.

I have been away from watching the races for a couple of years, so I don't know what I was thinking. I thought Daytona was a lot different.

A podium fell into his lap. That is great for him but let's not get ahead of ourselves. His win will be the outdoor championship.

I agree with GoRide2.

Short, Grant, Kdub, villopoto, and bhep are all better canidates for making the podium in SX for the rest of this year..

But outdoors I would put my money on the #800. He is gonna be more driven this year knowing he is going to have an X on his back. I think RV is gonna hit the dirt alot trying to stay with the 800 machine.

Mike will not get a sniff of the box again this yr. His 3rd last week was awesome but he is a 6th-10th place guy. As far as winning a SX race goes it will never happen. If Stewart stays home this summer the outdoor title is Mikes to lose IMO.

I dont see it happening, he might get a 3rd again though. Besides, Stewart will win all remaining rounds.

Alessi will do well outdoors this season.

After this week either Stewart will bumble about trying to get Chad out of his head much like he did with Carmichael or dominate to show what a fluke it was. Even if he does stumble, Reed knows he can capitalize, so you'll probably see a new ferocity.

As much as I like Mike, I think it will tough to overcome something like this unless they take each other out.

i don't think Mike will a SX this season. He rode with heart in Indy but his lap times were still slower than the guys who got mechanicals like Windham or Short. The most important for Mike Alessi right now is to come out of the SX season healthy and ready to rule MX.

He will when it's time for the Outdoors! He's still getting his race legs back, very soon grasshopper will snatch the pebbles from JS's hand...

Geez, the kid went backward all season...

He gets a lucky podium result of 2 mechanicals and 1 very sick rider and suddenly he's a threat to win??

If Chad and James aren't there, I'd say you got a pretty good prediction.

I could see Alessi winning Daytona and of course a number of out door rounds.

Your serious? With all due respect Alessi is a bad ass dude and prolly my second favorite rider. But with James and Chad out there it will take an act from god for him to win a SX.
And since we had an act from god at A1 i seriously doubt it will happen again.

Why won't CR be in it next year?

Moves everyone up... well... that may be true, but that only brings MA up to 6th or so.

Closer to the pace of Reed and Stewart? What are you smoking? Stewart and Reeds interviews were over before Alessi came across the line in 3rd. Had Shorty not got a rock caught in his rear brake, Alessi would have been a distant 4th instead of 3rd.

I would say he has about as much chance as Josh Grant and Josh Grant has a win this year.

Alessi started the season out slow-either playing it safe, just getting his comfort level back, or fitness improving. He had some pretty bad injuries. He's doing pretty well the latter part of the season. He wasn't expected to really come out this season and be a top 3 guy but he is definitely improving and actually looks real smooth and controlled-not riding over his head. Kids got some mad talent and desire.

great for Alessi to get on the podium... but i doubt he will even make it on the box the rest of the year. hope he proves me wrong.. but i think he got real lucky with short getting that rock in the brake and windham having a mechanical dnf.
