I think it's nice to have an offseason event that isn't so serious and the riders all seemed pretty stoked too

RBSR, just watched it and it looked everyone had fun. Don't really see what the point of MEC is - outdoors is finished, SX is couple of months away yet???

RBSR was way better back to back racing no waiting. The only thing I wish is that they would have put a whoop section toward the end. In the past years the whoops had been a deciding factor. This year, first one out of the gator pit was the winner, whoops could have changed that.

RBSR, too bad this was the last year, at least thats what I heard.

I like turns but I also enjoy the head to head, fast paced format of the straight rhythm. MEC has been a pretty badass event at times but the format of straight rhythm is a good once a year deal for fun. Maybe do one with some huge bowl turns set up like this format and see what happens?

Honestly, I feel like straight rhythm was lame this year...very few riders (and even less top “factory” riders)...the Ronnie Mac side show (how sad is the event if it has to hype a made up personality to get attention?)...I can only watch people ride on a straight line so many times.

MEC is at least racing, and has the big purse money which makes it interesting...but it caters to the lowest common denominator of fans, and I have my fill of Monster.

So...I don’t think either of them are all that great...and wouldn’t miss ether of them if they disappeared from the schedule (and maybe that would increase interest in the MXdN).

haha ok negative nancy, no one forced you to watch it.

I think Red bull straight rhythm had more talent line up than mec did. When was the last time you saw Villopoto race a 2 stroke?

Neither. Watched parts of both. I would not care one bit if they were both discontinued.

Well, I watched both for a few minutes and turned them off. So I didn’t watch them. I checked the results and that was it.

RBSR is better entertainment. As mentioned it would be fun to see super mini out there too.

I was more excited about RBSR for sure, mainly because of RV and Chad racing 2 strokes. I got bored midway in both.

Pretty hard to argue that the Straight Rhythm hasn't been more entertaining.

We've basically had every moto be a check out at MEC, bar RV Vs JS.

Was there anything else going on other than 2 stroke races at RBSR, cause I missed it if there was

I know the MEC claims to be a hybrid event, but I think a real hybrid track would be cool. 50% gnarly Motocross, 50% Supercross. I know they'd struggle with set-up, but that'd be part of the challenge. Might also make it more enticing for euro riders.

What do you prefer? Monster Energy Cup or Redbull Straight Rhythm? Just purely for fun to see what people like more I created a poll: https://strawpoll.com/x1fc3df1...

Guess I'll be the outlier and say MEC is MUCH more exciting to me than RBSR. They're both great events and I enjoy watching them, but the MEC is more traditional racing with some unique twists...as well as the supermini & all-star class. To me, hands down the MEC is a better event.

I'm grateful we have both here in the Southwest. Although I think Red Bull is a way cooler company, I only go out of my way to watch MEC live

Yeah and someone from the board was there and said there was at least 35,000 people and wouldn't doubt the 55,000 number that Sal mentioned because it was that packed everywhere.
