Cheers,
I am new to this forum. I've found the post while i was searching for "RM80 1980" info and parts.
Your RM 80 is fantastic ! Realy awesome !! I did not believe what i saw.
I have the same bike since i was 12 years old.
Now it is waiting in pieces for a restauration (never done a restoration before).
But now that i saw your bike, ....
Can you share some tips or adresses to find parts, decals, color for the painting, ... etc
Or is this not the place to ask these questions ?
Thanks in advance,
Ki
First of all welcome to this forum
Feel free to ask whatever you need about the restoration
For finding parts first go to partzilla.com(affordable original suzuki) to check whatever is still available for this bike ,then goes a search on google with part numbers and last resource is always ebay(more expensive)
The perfect match for tank color is phlolina yellow(any shop will match it) ,the frame, pegs, side stand and brake pedal are gloss black , wheel hubs and engine goes satin black and pipe and muffler are black satin ceramic for high temperature. Swingarm ,brake stay, triple trees, and handlebar are champagne gold
I went all powder coat ,with the exception of gas tank, you could use automotive quality paint if you want too
For the design of the decals ,i always go with www.bdesigns.ca ,Brian is the best, actually we did my whole bike ,so you could contact him ,and u are the lucky one cause every detail(months of researching and work) has been done already, so is just a matter of ordering a set ,for the vin decal ,u need to provide him your frame numbers and he will do your own decal for your bike, his email is brian@bdesigns.ca
If you have any pictures from the bike ,old ones when it was running ,just post them and even the actual ones in pieces

Martin

I got finally the shocks back from Noleen ,i will post some pictures here
U know that i haven't started the bike ,and i think i won't ,i think will be better to keep it as it is and without getting all the contamination of the fluids and gas
I really like how the bike turned on ,and i have a lot of nos parts ,like the cylinder(including new bottom end and top) and even the tires(from that era) that i want to preserve them that way ,if i start the bike ,i think it won't be new again
I will do a photo shoot of the complete bike in 2 weeks after the holidays and i will post the final pictures here
Cheers and Happy Holidays
Martin

i bought the decals from brian and they are great. Thx for the address
Now i am searching the right paint
The champagne gold is not easy to find and with the color code that i have my paint supplier does not find It.
Do you have paint details or mix codes from your supplier?
Thanks in advance
Ki
I am glad that you got the decals!!!
For the champagne gold, i used a company called www.prismaticpowders.com, here in the US
The code for the paint will be :
CHAMPAGNE GOLD
Item: PMB-4782
Description:
Light satin silver with a hint of gold
Each pound cost $15.46, with 3lbs you have more than enough for all the champagne gold parts
Please post pictures of your bike , i will love to see them

Martin
Pit Row
All that I️ have left of my ‘80 KX80.
The only plastics available from Suzuki are the rear mudguard and right side panel correct.
The front fender I restored the original that it came with the bike, the front number plate and left side panel I was lucky
to find them digging online.
I was the person that sold you the original seat for your bike back on December back, I think I have a really good condition left side panel too if you are interested
Cheers
Martin
thanks
my name is linton brown I'm from Melbourne Australia,
when i was 14 i had a rm80x 1981 which i trashed and thrashed for years and then i sold it and went on to bigger bikes,
then 5 years ago for my 30th bday my best friend tracked it down through 2 people and purchased it for me, my goal is to restore it but its pretty beat up,
I've stripped and had the frame sand blasted and now I'm trying to find a way to copy the stand bracket (as mine is missing ) then i can get it welded and start my build
i was wondering if anyone had some close ups & measurement's of the bracket?
ill show some pics of what im trying to too and hopefully i can get some advice
by the way the pictures you guys have posted has made me very jealous and so so keen to get the ball rolling,
Great job.
