Reed has removed the public belly-aching this season and people seem to be in dire need of it. The season is getting stagnant and they want something to get indignant about.

Nobody here expected Chad to overtake Stewart, but what they did assume was that he'd have cracked by now with his stifling of the shit talk. That's what this thread is really about.

Exactly. You are all bored, and looking for something to bash him about. Can't just accept that he is being honest, telling the truth, and telling it how it is. With no excuses or whinging. Give him a break.

if James wasn't racing this season, you guys would be talking about what a stellar season Reed is having.

Reed needs to just shut up and race. Him saying he knows Stewarts weakness and just needs to get close enough to capitalize on it. He does kinda ask for the bashing he gets. I like the smack talking, but if he is going to put it out there, he better back it up.

everybody has a weakness. When I was in college is was drunk fat bitches....I just needed to get close enough to capitalize on it.

Reed is riding smart he knows he can ride james's pace but at what cost? he knows james is known for his crashes and even gave him one right off the bat so all he needs is one more and the championship is his... question is now will james ever give him that one more since he isnt being pushed???

I bet Reed would love to have Phoenix back. He was faster than Stewart and was afraid to take a chance. If he wins that race the series would be different. Now its to late and Stewart has stepped on his dick and Reed has said uncle. IMO the series is over. Reed knows he can't beat Stewart and so does Stewart.
Nah, I disagree. I was at Phoenix and James won on a bike that wasn't at all set up for him - he wasn't willing to accept less than winning. Yes, Chad was catching up, but he would have had to also get around him - how many times has that happened.

Why would the series be any different if Chad would have won that race? The only difference might be that it would be tied now instead of James being 3 points ahead. They aren't that close that that race would have changed much.

Can you imagine giving your personal best, all that you have, and finishing second? Man, that must be tough to deal with. Not only that, coming out the next week to do it all over again! I respect Chad! He is second, but if he beats JS straight up, the story may be quite different moving forward.

The mental swing would be dramatic and the rest of the year could be quite different. Put yourself in CR's and JS's shoes. Can you fathom the mental games going on here?

Scott,

I agree. One of two situations will hapen - JS crashes or CR turns it up. CR has done it before and each upcoming round should be exciting. CR can't throw it away or he risks the chance to capitalize on JS's potential mistake(s). I can't wait until next weekend...

One would think you would have a better grasp of what is really happening. The media hypes shit up because they have to. Am i alone here or are some of the people on this thread lacking something? I can't help but notice a pattern.

In all seriousness i am kidding...
The media does do that though. They take some things out of context and while i am at this i might as well save my butt cheeks and say that GuyB is a bad ass mofo and tells it like it is. Seriously though he does.

Geez, that's a tough one. With 9 left I absolutely think James could do it, but I doubt it only because there are so many variables of what can go wrong.

I just think James is slightly better in most every category than Chad. At the end of the day that adds up to James being better enough to be able to beat Chad even when something as important as bike set up isn't working.

Scott, the problem with that is that those flashes of what you are saying is "Chad's best" is not better than what James delivers week in week out. Remember that fastest lap Chad had in the main several weeks ago? That was while James was out front just maintaining a gap. Do you doubt James could have match or bested that lap time?

You think Chad has more to offer? I agree; I think he has another gear that he doesn't feel comfortable using - that edge you speak of.

You have to believe that James has more to offer as well.
The thing is if Chad has "more" to offer; James has "MORE" to offer.

I think Chad needs a holeshot with James down by 15 seconds at the end of the first lap. Anything less than that James pulls out the extra gear and catching him after 20 laps...

With that, I wholeheartedly agree that Chad deserves an incredible amount of respect in this sport.

I think some of you are adding insult to injury by saying Chad is'nt trying, or has another gear, when he is doing everything he can to try and win. Last race he was starting to ride over his head and making a bunch of mistakes, even jumping on a tuff block like he did at the US Open.
He is doing his best, riding at his limit. He is the second fastest guys and thats all there is to it.

You guys do realize that Reed is just answering questions that are asked of him right?

When you are on TV and somebody asks you "what's up out there?"
You have to answer them otherwise you will get a reputation for being that rude guy that won't talk.
He is being honest and answering questions, that is what is known as a response...not an excuse.

All this time I thought the sun came up in the east when clearly it shines out of a few peoples assholes on here.
My bad...

I could beat James if something drastic happens and he is no longer on the track. Wouldn't exactly make me proud. I guess you have to hold on to something huh Scott?

Well put Stephon. Some people just don't want to admit that Chad isn't in James league. It really upsets them to know that Villipoto and Short are closer to Chad than Chad is to James.

Hmmm, maybe you have a better understanding about whats really happening better than I do. I'm just going by what came out of Reeds mouth.. I'm not into reading between the lines.. If someone says something, I take them at their word... Reed said if he gets close enough to James he knows he weakness, period. It doesn't get much closer than a second behind now does it????
Wonder what Reed thinks of what he said at the beginning of the season about how he knows the short comings of the bike James will be riding??

I guess I would be a little on edge too. Talked a little smack, trashed his old bike, now he is getting his ass kicked by the same bike he trashed last year.

Media hype??? I go to three message boards, Vital, Proride, and Planet Minis, I rarely look at the home page here.. Everything I'm responding to came straight from Reeds mouth, no media spin here..

Insult to injury?

What exactly do you mean by saying "Last race he was starting to ride over his head and making a bunch of mistakes"? Is that another way of saying "another gear"?

Jumping on a tuff block doesn't necessarily mean one is riding over their head.

I believe Chad is doing the best he can; it's just that James is superior too many areas. I also believe that most do have the "adrenaline fueled rushes" they are even "better than their best".

Wait, does Chad make excuses for not winning?
Or does he just tell you that he didnt get a good start and did have the speed like JS did?

The Reed haters really need to get a life. You don't like him for some bizarre personal reason fine. Do we need to hear about it every week?

The supposed slights you accuse him of could just as easily be applied to Bubba ... times 10.

Give it a rest already.

when Reed finally does beat James.

Scott, you say that with such certainty. Reed may not beat Stewart at all this season and the chances of him beating him without James having some sort of issue are very small. If and/or when James doesn't win there is no guarantee that it will be Chad that finishes on top of the box.

I'm torn, I'd love to see James win out the rest of the season. I was also at Phoenix and it was an unbelievable contest between those two and I'd love to see 9 more races of that type of dogfight.

It's a tricky thing because it's almost like James gets a bad rap for being "the fastest man on the planet" (j/k, that sounds so stupid if it's said more than once in a season). From what I've seen the guy has worked for everything he's gotten and this is the result. It's up to the other riders to keep it interesting.
