Nobody here expected Chad to overtake Stewart, but what they did assume was that he'd have cracked by now with his stifling of the shit talk. That's what this thread is really about.

Why would the series be any different if Chad would have won that race? The only difference might be that it would be tied now instead of James being 3 points ahead. They aren't that close that that race would have changed much.
The mental swing would be dramatic and the rest of the year could be quite different. Put yourself in CR's and JS's shoes. Can you fathom the mental games going on here?

I agree. One of two situations will hapen - JS crashes or CR turns it up. CR has done it before and each upcoming round should be exciting. CR can't throw it away or he risks the chance to capitalize on JS's potential mistake(s). I can't wait until next weekend...
Shaun
I made mistakes
The media does do that though. They take some things out of context and while i am at this i might as well save my butt cheeks and say that GuyB is a bad ass mofo and tells it like it is. Seriously though he does.
I just think James is slightly better in most every category than Chad. At the end of the day that adds up to James being better enough to be able to beat Chad even when something as important as bike set up isn't working.
You think Chad has more to offer? I agree; I think he has another gear that he doesn't feel comfortable using - that edge you speak of.
You have to believe that James has more to offer as well.
The thing is if Chad has "more" to offer; James has "MORE" to offer.
I think Chad needs a holeshot with James down by 15 seconds at the end of the first lap. Anything less than that James pulls out the extra gear and catching him after 20 laps...
With that, I wholeheartedly agree that Chad deserves an incredible amount of respect in this sport.
Pit Row
He is doing his best, riding at his limit. He is the second fastest guys and thats all there is to it.
When you are on TV and somebody asks you "what's up out there?"
You have to answer them otherwise you will get a reputation for being that rude guy that won't talk.
He is being honest and answering questions, that is what is known as a response...not an excuse.
All this time I thought the sun came up in the east when clearly it shines out of a few peoples assholes on here.
My bad...
Wonder what Reed thinks of what he said at the beginning of the season about how he knows the short comings of the bike James will be riding??
I guess I would be a little on edge too. Talked a little smack, trashed his old bike, now he is getting his ass kicked by the same bike he trashed last year.
Media hype??? I go to three message boards, Vital, Proride, and Planet Minis, I rarely look at the home page here.. Everything I'm responding to came straight from Reeds mouth, no media spin here..
What exactly do you mean by saying "Last race he was starting to ride over his head and making a bunch of mistakes"? Is that another way of saying "another gear"?
Jumping on a tuff block doesn't necessarily mean one is riding over their head.
I believe Chad is doing the best he can; it's just that James is superior too many areas. I also believe that most do have the "adrenaline fueled rushes" they are even "better than their best".
Or does he just tell you that he didnt get a good start and did have the speed like JS did?
The supposed slights you accuse him of could just as easily be applied to Bubba ... times 10.
Give it a rest already.
that guys works hard and no one gives him credit
Scott, you say that with such certainty. Reed may not beat Stewart at all this season and the chances of him beating him without James having some sort of issue are very small. If and/or when James doesn't win there is no guarantee that it will be Chad that finishes on top of the box.
I'm torn, I'd love to see James win out the rest of the season. I was also at Phoenix and it was an unbelievable contest between those two and I'd love to see 9 more races of that type of dogfight.
It's a tricky thing because it's almost like James gets a bad rap for being "the fastest man on the planet" (j/k, that sounds so stupid if it's said more than once in a season). From what I've seen the guy has worked for everything he's gotten and this is the result. It's up to the other riders to keep it interesting.
