They made these up especially for me, but if you email Frank he will make up a whole kit for you. Another vital member bought a set as well.
I'm really making progress on with the 1991 YZ rebuild - Here's a couple of pics from my phone showing where I am - I spent a very satisfying day with a DIY home plating kit plating some of the bits I haven't been able to replace - I would highly recommend this kit. I got it from Ebay & it's worked really well as you can see from the pics of the plated parts.
You get passivating fluid for both clear/blue & gold/yellow - I went for bright silver but if you wanted to get more to the original finish you could use the yellow/gold.
All the bits I have plated have come out really well & I should be finishing up really soon.
I've entered the Vets MXdN at Farleigh Castle UK - the bike will look the part, now I have to drag my body to the gym so I can at least try to do it justice!
I'll take some pics with a decent camera to show some of the detail - waiting for the exhaust to come back from having the dents blown out & the brake hoses should arrive later this week so by next weekend it should be close to finished!
Cheers Jez
Your bike is looking fantastic, good luck at the vets MXDN as well

It does look like you may have a WR motor and YZ frame.
My bike was a full rebuild, I pretty much replaced everything with new parts, complete engine rebuild, new rims/spokes, suspension rebuilt, new plastics (including tank), custom made radiators, not to mention all the random parts sourced from every corner of the world and hideous shipping charges.
I have around $7k invested in this bike which includes the purchase price.
Hi folks, I finally got it done & this is it at Farliegh for the et MXDN 2015 I'll upload a few more pics but I am really pleased with how it's finally turned out.
I managed to replace the shock & I also fitted the larger forks from the 1998 YZ, they work nicely.
I had a lot of issues getting the brakes & wheels to fit as these are also from later models - I've had a few spacers made & managed to get everything aligned & running as it should but it was a time for trial & error!
I am done for now but might consider replacing the wheels during the winter.
I'm keen to hear how it ran and how you got on at Farleigh.....that place is definitely on my bucket list.
Farliegh was a bit of a bust for me really, I just didn't have enough time between finishing the bike & being able to get it dialled in enough to be able to ride it properly.
I'll try again next year but will do as many Super-Evo races as I can between now & then.
The atmosphere at Farleigh was amazing, no one was being a superstar, even though there was a few of them there! Everyone was really friendly & all interested in the old bikes around the paddock. If you can make it over you should do it, it's certainly an experience just to be in the paddock.
Cheers, Jez
this was my 92 yz250 I had, I miss it even tho I had so many problems with it, I wish I kept it and restored it, but at somepoint I will try get another.
Here it is after much love, motor rebuilt with an Eric Gorr 265 setup, new pipe, new bushings and bearings and backgrounds. Still sporting busted up radiators, spraybombed plastics and a warped frame but it was good enough to get me on the trails and track.
That moment when you can measure just how hard of a life the bike has had...
From here the frame got straightened and powder coated. Then it's rebuild into a motard instead of a full restoration began. RadMFG supplied the wheels, some fresh plastic, a YZ tank instead of the bulky, failing WR unit, chinese radiators bodged into operation plus a SmartCarb to replace the worn beyond repair Mikuni...
First test as a motard! I'm slow, the bike has potential.
Did I mention I'm slow? I'm ok as a road racer or mini pilot, this full size sumo thing is a whole new world for me.
This is how it currently sits as I prep for racing this year. Top end came off so Mr Gorr could tweak the porting. The front end is off as I'm updating it with a 2010 YZ450F setup held on via custom offset RSW Racing clamps. On thing I've been trying to track down is a better seat cover, I love that purple with orange shadowed white Yamaha text so I'll have to hit up the sources in this thread. I'm still using a WR seat though as it's taller and flatter, which makes getting up on the tank easier, dunno if that'll cause problems or not.
Anyways, figured I'd toss my 92 up to show the bike in an alternate form.
cheers
Pit Row
