Anyone know if the new stadium is gonna have pit access? That's one thing that sucked about the RCA Dome!

I'm not sure if Indy will be open or not. But the facility should be a whole lot nicer than the old RCA done, that's for sure.

Did you catch this pic of the old and the new on the homepage?

Oh...and the pits are always open in St. Louis, but they are inside and it gets a little crowded in there. The old Indy pits? There's no way that you could have had fans in there. It was way too tight.

I might have to go to Indy this year. I always go to STL and have been to Indy a couple times but it would be interesting to see their new stadium. It does have a roof right? When is Indy this year?

Indy is Feb 28

Yes, there is a (retractable) roof. For sure it will be closed!

That's why I asked. Smile Bummer there are no pits. I would probably go every year if they had open pits. I might have to try and scrounge up a few tickets.

That surprises me you said that, Steve - most folks comment that they

can't believe that the RCA was torn down - it didn't appear ancient or

lame-o - Anyway, the new one does look fresher and brighter, but I never

thought that the RCA dome needed a "makeover", didn't look old....

I would guess this new dome would keep the noise in a lot better than the old one.

We didn't have enough taxes to pay here in Indiana so our fearless leaders fixed that with a shiny new stadium no one can afford to go to.Blink

$10 tread head seats though you can't beat that.

I think the new stadium is ugly. It looks like a big brick shed.

Coming across I-70, it just dominates the skyline (which wasn't that great to begin with)

The RCA dome (boy the locals here hated that, it will always be the hoosier dome to them)
didn't have enough luxury box seats for the muckety-mucks. The mayor was worried because there was a group in LA romancing the colts owners (Irsay) to move, so they built them the new place.

I haven't been inside, yet, so I can't say what it's like.

The joint is snazzy - check out the lobby - there's a blown-apart hemi-like

dragster engine on wires in a glass-case. It's a work of art. Mesmerizing.

Yep...and a couple top fuel dragsters, and a sprint car, and a boat, and plane, and funny car...all with Lucas livery.

If you want to check out something interesting, Look at the fuel delivery pipe on the top fuel car. It's at least three inches in diameter. Yow, those things are thirsty.

Void, I think he meant the roof will be closed. I don't think he was answering your question about the pits.

Did they use the new stadium for the Dealer show? Thats where they were trying to sell me space last year.

Thats an old picture right? I thought I saw the old dome being imploded last year.

They did use the new stadium this year. We had to run there for our credentials.

That picture is new, and was shot last Monday. Yes, the old dome was imploded. Obviously there's still lots of clean-up to do.

Actually I knew exactly what you were talking about when you said it would be closed based on the "20 degrees" comment and that's why I replied with "that's why I asked". Smile I am the one that made it confusing because I went on to say it's a bummer the pits are closed but I was referencing someone elses statement that they were closed. Since we are off on that tangent does this mean the pits might not be closed this year?
