Saw this project CR advertised on craigslist as a 1996. I'm currently restoring a 96 and thought it would be a good 2nd project or a parts bike at worst. I get there and it seems to be in fair condition, but it has a white airbox.....so not a 96 unless someone put this bike together from misc parts.

Anyway. I bought the bike even though its not really what I was looking for cause all the parts are there and it would still be a good project bike no matter the year. I'm just not sure what year it is. Obviously a 93-95. But it has no obvious stock parts on it that would give me an ID.

Will the serial number or engine case numbers give me any clues? I suspect it's a 95.

The forks are 95-96 KYB's. My guess is 95 given the air box. I'm not certain but I think 96 had the first HS comp adjuster on the shock as well (anodized red). 92-93 had Showa forks, and 94 had the Showa forks with the grey baskets at the bottom (the upper leg as were shorter, Honda didn't want to re-do the fork guards, so they put the baskets on to keep the guards from catching). MXA called them "vegetable strainers"...

Yep as above said the 94 had different forks with covers over them.

The VIN should tell you but 95-96 sounds correct.

Let me know if you are interested in selling the airbox.
