I bought this bike a few months ago and have been fixing it up and have raced it a few times. It's my first 2-stroke bike. Engine runs well, but still needs some fine tuning on the jetting. I finally got around to pulling the reed valve out to look at it. It looks stock, to me, with the metal reeds. I cant see any light looking straight through it, but I can see light along the sides. I assumed its bad and ordered a replacement reed. All I could find for my bike was a Boyesen Pro Series Pro-44. Looks like a 2 piece reed of fiberglass and carbon fiber.
Installed it and bike started right up and idled better (faster idle for same idle screw and air screw position as the old reed.) I haven't had a chance to ride it yet. Anyone have any experience with this reed? Are there alternatives I might want to try?

Don't worry those new reeds are good. The benefit of the new reeds should be more power through out the RPM range due to it keeping the air velocity up. This effectively increases the fuel and air the engine draws in at all rpms and generates more power.

Have fun!

Thx. I got the bike out for a while today. It ran very well. Most noticeable changes were a much more crisp throttle response, a feeling of more low rpm power, amd better idling.
