13 vs 14+ yz250f

I had a 11 yz250f and loved the shit out of it. It handled fantastic, but was down on power. The only other 250f ive had recently was a 14 kx250f i bought new, and the kawi felt like it put out damn near 10hp more. Still yet id take the yami over it because of the way the yz felt glued to the ground, i cornered better then i ever have on that bike.

Anyway, ive heard some say the 14 yz handles nothing like the 10-13, some say its great some say it sucks. Im assuming its much closer in power to my kx i had but im more concerned about how the chassis feels. Seems like the backward motor and sharing the frame with the yz450f would be detrimental... i wish i could ride a newer yz.

Anyone owned both and can comment

I've had both, Handling on the 14+ is a bit different feeling. I corrected for some of the front end feel by bringing the forks a bit higher up in the clamps to replicate a bit of the feel of my 13. Power wise there is no comparison, the 14+ absolutely curb stomps the 13 with fuel injection. If you're going for a 14+ go for a 15 or higher, the 14's had some first year issues and quirks.

I own a 13, never ridden a 14+ so I can't really say much about it. My experience with the 13 is that it's super easy to ride but it's so under powered (mainly because the bike is so choked up stock). I would consider it the best handling bike I've ever ridden, it turns like it is on velcro and seems to really stick on those tight inside lines. Like I said, I have no experience with a 14 so I can't say much about it but the 13 was a great bike, just needs some parts to give it some more power.

^^This... My son had both the 13&14. Once e rode the 14 he didn't want to ride the 13 again.

Man reading other people talk about how great their 10-13 handled almost just makes me want to get another one and build the motor
My 11 just had a pipe. It wasn't TERRIBLE but wasnt impressive by any means. Probably with some cams, a piston and headwork id hope its around 40hp.

Newer yzf,. No comparison. I would go 2015 or newer, 14 had some bugs and recalls.

was the 13 that slow ? if i remember right there where some good mods you could do to get some really good power. im never had one but remember them being one of the most reliable 250 at the time. wold be fun to see how low in hp there are.

My 13 was put through hell and haven't cracked a bolt on the motor yet (besides the drain bolt lol). It isn't a fast bike by any means, but an intake, muffler and gytr head would seem to be ideal for the bike.

i owned a 2011 yz250f then i switched to a 2015,2016 and now to a 2017.
Best Bike for me so far. The first ride with the new 2015 was awesome, i never tried a 14 Modell before.

Did any of yalls 15+ bikes have frame cracking issues? Just noticed my 15 cracked and am wondering what the next step is
