That design for the start surprises me with the Amateur SX. With the start on the other end, they were able to keep staging away from the garages, and fans. They also had support trailers on the area that will be right behind the start area.

So will be interesting to see where they stage amateurs. Also, I bet they don't come back across the start straight for the Amateur races either. Probably will be changing that too for Sunday.

yeah, if anyone loops out or takes a digger right there (which has already happened this season, more than once), the rest of the packs going to be right up there ass before they can get out of the way. seems silly to me.

I was Wil's mechanic for that season. I still couldn't believe what happened that night. Even before this video surfaced; this was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the start design. Both Wil and the bike got pretty banged up that night. Wil was able to race. The bike needed new front wheel, forks were twisted, new front plate and fender, and some other smaller stuff. The AMA has a time limit on making "on the line" emergency repairs. I do think they gave me and the team some extra time on this one however knowing that this was on them (track crew). To Blake's credit he did come over and apologize after the race as well.

The current plan has some issues. Ex: don't get stuck in gate for more than a few seconds!
