Ebay wheel sets

Has anyone ever purchased wheels sets off of Ebay? They are complete sets that include rims, hubs, spokes and bearings. Price looks great but do you get what you pay for or are they actually decent. They're on there for $549.

I've installed a few sets, they are a good deal for thee weekend warrior.

I have read they are heavier than stock wheels.

Sprocket bolts must be torqued at the nut on these, so as to not break the sprocket tangs, many people don't tighten the sprocket bolts correctly and shatter rear hub.

I've never bought any wheels off of ebay but I would stay away from those. For nearly the same price you can get a set of Tusk wheels that have got pretty good reviews.

Probably decent,. I look at wheelsets as a safety and investment purchase. Better quality stuff easier resale and quality. . Getting the parts, service, etc.

Safety is my biggest concern with these. I'm just a weekend warrior but I want something safe and reliable. It's for an 06 RM250 and I didn't see a wheel set listed for my bike. There are rims listed for it so I could build a set using my stock hubs and new spokes.

Just go with the Tusk Wheels. MXA gave them 4 stars.
Their review was for a set that fit a KTM but applies to all bikes.

(4) Performance.
The more time we put on the Tusk Impact wheels the more comfortable we became with them. Although they are heavier than other premium wheesets, we took that as a sign that they were overbuilt to hold up to abuse better. In the first month we chased the spokes on a regular basis, but they didn’t require any more attention than the stock KTM rims. By the second month, we began to notice that the stock KTM Excel rims were looking kind of whoopty, while the Tusk Impact rims were still round. By the end of our test, the Tusk wheels had won us over.

You can only go so low on price with sourcing materials and manufacturing a wheel, not something I would want to go with the cheapest on. Unless someone else tested them thoroughly (not I)!

I've had good luck with Tusk wheels. Just bought a set of DNA wheels for an RMZ250 chassis. They are a bit heavier then the tusk ones. Thicker spokes on the DNA ones too. I would have bought the Tusk wheels for the RMZ but they didn't offer an 18" rear... which I wanted for off road.

I picture myself auger ing into the ground with incredible fury after a folded wheel..............no thanks.

Best bang for the buck is OEM hub, quality spoke/nipple/rim kit (RK, Excel, etc.) and lace it yourself.
Not that hard, actually, and WAY better quality.

Usually they have the 18" option. We're they back ordered or just not available?

We've ran all levels of wheels from tusk to standard excel to A60s. Put them all thru the ringer racing moto, offroad (big6, worcs) and even some milestone sx / arena cross. There's no debating the quality of the excels but the Tusk wheels held up great for us and I've heard/read many positive reviews feedback!

Right on, I have heard more good than bad on the tusk as well. I was just speaking about no-name ebay sets with no good info on them.

Guys, I'm looking for a nice set of black rims in the following sizes:
21x1.60 36H
19x1.85 36H

Looking for something around €100 per rim. I also have to ship to europe. (or find them somewhere in europe)
What's the best bang for buck?

I've found that the most cheaper rims only come in 19x2.15. Does anyone know why?

What bike are they for? I'm sure it just simplifies(less tooling = less $$ spent) the manufacturing process for them to just make the 2.15 width plus alot of guys run that width even on the 250fs . We have done it ourselves with no issues. We have run the smaller tire on the 2.15 and a larger Tire on the 1.85 without really noticing a difference on my son's 250f race bikes. I'm sure some will notice and some won't. Email me your shipping address and I'll get you some pricing. S.walent1@verizon.net

In the same boat here. Have had 3 different sets of Tusk wheels, they were great on all 3 bikes. Would really like a set for my 04 RM250 but they don't list them. Sad

Tusk has rims for your 250. Just lace them up to stock hubs.
