Let the second tier riders fight for wins & develop confidence wouldnt be a bad thing.
Besides, if sponsors and manufacturers decide they really want Americans in the GP series (and they should), they can work out the money. Villopoto didn't take a pay cut. He just made a half-hearted commitment.
IMO it's pretty sad when money is more important then first class racing. There was hardly a pass in the main.
Think how much better 2 US GP would be if ET, RD & JA were contesting the series. Imagine the support at say Red Bud for example.
The US nats will be better if they left. Would open the door for fresh front runners. The racing were still be very strong.
The US nats is becoming a bit stale IMO. Realistcally you have 3 potential champs IMO. Roczen, Dungey & Tomac. Throw in a couple of injuries & you have a boring runaway series like last year.
How Roczen can believe he won the most prestigious series in the world in 2016 I have no idea.
If the top guys wanted it to happen the money would be there.
You have a big bike sales market in the states, I can see why the factories what superstars there, representing there brands.
But if you have top US guys leading a proper world series, the US GP could be the best supported event of the calendar. Could even have 2 events.
If the big brands realized the value of that then It would be big business.
It's time for change.
