2015 YZ125 Big Bore Help

Here is my scenario. I've been looking online and talking to a few builders about big boring my 2015 YZ125 only to realize we live in a world with too many options! I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has done a big bore on this bike.

A little about myself: I'm a Pro MX rider in Canada and can qualify into the nationals fairly confidently (although i'd say i'm a decent B rider if were talking USA) and weight 170 pounds. Basically my weight is all i'm wanting the big bore for.

I've talked to Max Power RPM, Eric Gorr, Harris Performance, Pro Circuit, and few other local shops. I'm avoiding the athena 144 period. I also am only interested in the 134 or the 144 because of the piston availability.

So my question who has had luck with their builder and whats the preferred overbore size? I like the 144 dyno numbers but track performance means everything. Thanks for any help!

I would recommend working with a builder who is going to put together a package specifically for your application, but sell you a collection of parts. Chamber size, fuel type, porting, and tuning (pipe and carb) make a huge difference in a 134cc or 144cc build.

You can call Millennium Technologies and speak with Tom Morgan at 1-888-779-6885 or email at TMorgan@mt-llc.com

Tom is one of the most accomplished tuners in the country and he would be happy to work with you on your 125.

I run my own mx/motor/suspension shop out of red deer, give me a txt or call if you want your motor built or advice on best course of action. I would also highly suggest tom morgan or terry varner. There are also a few great canadian builders here if you know where to look.

I have heard good things about Tom Morgan but I had Terry Varner build me a few motors and they were awesome. His customer service is second to none. If he is busy and needs to go he always takes the time to call you back asap.

Good Luck!

Never had any work done to my motor, but in the future I'll be going to Tom Morgan.

Im in the same boat... Not as fast as the OP, but a decent Vet Int and bought a low hour yz 125 that already had the athena 144. It runs decent but I planned on sending it to max rpm for a 167. Thats a bad idea?
