I could care less at this point if either mookie or bubba race. They lost me as a fan with there shit PR skills. They let the fans no nothing, just bait us with these lame ass cryptic social media posts. Malcom can only blame himself for not getting a ride. Sits out the nationals cause he thought he could ride off the coat tails of a East Coast SX title.Too bad for him you get forgotten real quick in this sport ...especially when you choose to sit out a series for no good reason.
This.. Just like the chicks on Facebook who post "I'm done" or "Fuck this."

He would have had to ride for free...he said so resently in an interview from the overseas SX, there was no money from Geico for him to ride outdoors...that's a huge risk with little reward. He will line up...who knows on what.

I would like to see all the shit talkers go into the jobs that employ them, sit at their desk and work for free.

Yet, the expect a TOP LEVEL pro to risk their life for free???

Amazing.

It's called investing in yourself. If he had raced outdoors and put the heart and work in that's needed the money would come in the long run By proving his worth and getting that lucrative 450 ride. Nobody said for him to ride for free and he wouldn't of. He coulda put something together with a gear deal and some structured bonuses from various sponsors to ride outdoors and make some money and keep his name fresh on everyone's mind. Instead he took the entitled route and rested on a 250 east SX title. If he wanted it bad enough Geico would of made some sort of arrrangement to make it work for both parties and get him on the track

Don't care. Will be cool if Bubba lines up, I guess, but he's well past his glory days. Nothing more than a legend now, a myth. Couldn't care less about Malcolm, there's a Lotta guys that have won regional Supercross titles that aren't exactly contenders. These dorks, fans and people in the sport, think all this social media baiting is so cool. When in reality it's not, and nobody really cares. I'm not one of these crotchety old fucks that thinks the only way to earn publicity is to win races, but you have to give people something.

Hindsight is 50/50 , he probably expected (like someone in his position would) that he would have a ride locked down for next year. If he were to go out and race "for free" and broke his femur in the first moto not only would he have put his 2017 season in danger but he would have done it for no money. The arm chair warriors would then say he shouldn't have risked injury if he wasn't getting paid.

I would never expect a rider to race for free. If they wanted to, cool, but you can't knock a guy for expecting a paycheck for performing his job.

When Bubba raced for "Free" and won those outdoors, it was reported he made 600 Grand each win. Plus gear, goggles, helmet etc bonuses.

Hey look at Chad Reed. If listen to his interviews he talks about how the first year of 22 motor sports he made nothing. Invested everything back into into his career on the roll of a dice that it would pay off in the years to follow. It was a total gamble. But it did pay off in the end. Rejuvenated himself and his worth. Now it's 2017 and he is back on a factory team making full market value for his racing. I don't work for free and don't expect anyone else in this world too. But if I were Malcom there's no way I spend my whole summer fishing and doing everything besides racing then turn around after the outdoors are done and expect a 450 ride. He shoulda put the work in and done whatever he could to be in front of his fans and giving his racing %100 commitment

Roczen does, and everyone bitches just the same. Well, I don't, I think it's great.

What would people do with no more social media? Actually go ride?

He wouldn't be riding for free. He would be riding for contingency money and purse money. Sounds like a commission only job to me, which there are a lot of people out that have.

For the record by no means trying to be a stew hater. I was a fan. In fact really like watching Malcom ride he has unreal skills like his bro. Can remember a very young mookie running around the pool hall at Lorettas all day. I don't even think he was racing just there watching bubba dominate the mini classes. He then got interested and turned himself into a champ. Only to hit cruise and decide to not race this summer when he had the sport in the palm of his hand. He was off everyone's mind and yesterday's news by the time the teams started contract talks. Now he sits without a ride and the money to go with it.

I think my head would explode. I mean, there's no way they could be headed to California, right? But, what if? Man, this is too much to take.

I built my company by walking into dealerships and say "I will fix your stuff for free"

Once they saw the product they were ok paying for it later.

Seems like we expect 20 to 40th place to not only ride for free, but pay their own expenses.

Comparing moto to a desk job is such an amazingly stupid analogy. Yeah, I don't work for free. There are also not 100s or 1000s of kids out there whose parents are homeschooling them and grooming them to one day become a tax accountant and take my job, nor are there 1000s of hobbyist tax accountants out there buying software and spending spare weekends getting together with other enthusiasts to compete. The only product sport offers is marketing exposure. It's not a matter of getting paid fairly for work, it's a matter of getting paid for the marketing results a rider or team can demonstrate results for. If there's a lack of rides, its because decision makers who control those dollars don't see the value of spending more $ in this sport. That trickles down into less rides. If the dude in 34th believes in himself enough to buy a bike and get to the races, surely Malcolm and/or James can do the same.

And I AM a Malcolm Stewart fan. I hope he's out there and does well, and I hope James is out there and can ride without injury.

20th thru 40th is paying their own way and not making a living wage off of their racing.

Not just not making a living wage off of racing, very possibly they are working another job to pay for racing.

Malcolm doesn't weigh 200lbs ! 180 absolutely tops get over this Malcolm is huge krap there are other riders out there on 250's that are bigger and weigh more than he does he's not a freaking giant .

Can we tone down the "risking their lives" tag line. Most of this board does everything they do(albeit slower) and we pay to do it. I would love to do it for free. He could have probably got a gear deal together and had all expenses paid for. Probably make $50k for 12 rounds of racing. Doesn't sound bad to me when you are just moving to the main class.

Plus all his gear money and any other personal deals he could secure. Geico 450 guy has always wore what he wants head to toe. If he believes he's capable of podiums then take the bonuses, contingency, purse, all his gear money/personal deals and put yourself on good equipment with a top notch team.

The riding for free shit is getting old, he wouldn't starve, and if I had to bet he might just be able to afford a couple new fishing reels to enjoy this summer. That is unless he decided it was in his best interest to race outdoors.
