Story: Buddy/his wife had this CR 125 and it gave them fits. It smoked like crazy and sputtered, they had someone rebuild it, it seemed to run good then smoked like crazy again and got coolant in the motor. She moved to a 250f and they enticed me to buy this thing knowing I like to work on bikes. I bought it with intentions on rebuilding the top end and flipping it for a tiny profit. In reality, I tore the thing down to the frame and rebuilt it from the ground up. This wasn't a "throw 10k at it" build, this was what I'd call a reasonable rebuild but with no corners cut.

The beginning looked like this:

Finished up for the most part and she runs! Ran her a few times to start to break in and am probably going to head out to 212land this Sunday to run her hard.

Thanks man. Those are made by UniFilter. Sometimes places like rockymtn or BTO stock em. They come with 6 in a pack.

Man, that came out sweet! I'm curious to hear how the 134 is, I have an 04 and a spare cylinder that needs a replate anyways, so I'd like to hear how it stacks up against a regular 125. Love the overall look of the bike as well, not over the top but the little things like the front fender update and stadium plate make a huge difference.

I have a feeling this is going to become a really popular section of the forum.

Thanks dude, I had an RM 134 last year and also rode a stock YZ (was stronger than my mod RM) so I'll do my best to compare.

Looks awesome! Those uni filters look awesome!

If you don't mind, roughly what did you get the bike for and how much did you put into it?

I have a spreadsheet with everything I've done and bought but never added it up yet, I'll do that this weekend and let you know.

Is that all in including the bike? That's not bad for basically a brand new bike...

Yup, not too crazy. I just ordered a new shifter and pegs since those were the only worn out items left and I'm considering Showa forks for the fun of it.

Rode the bike for the 2nd time on Saturday and she's goin strong. I have some Showa forks coming tomorrow and that will probably be the last "unneeded" mod for her haha

Just finished my 02 cr125. Thing ran like crap and had zero bottom end power and maybe 50% top end. Everyone thought i was an idiot for buying it for 1200 at a honda dealership. But i dumped 2500 into it and its pretty much brand new. All OEM bottom and top end rebuild, boysen rad valve with a special torque spacer i milled, ported the intake and exhaust, pro circut works pipe and 403 shorty, did a little milling in the power valve, 13 tooth renthal countershaft sprocket, 53 tooth renthal sprocket, factory connection suspension rebuild, mtr preformance variable cylinder head, dunlop mx 32 & 42 custom tread. Ran AV gas in it around 100 octane high lead content. Pushing around 44-45 horse when its on the pipe. So for 3700 i got a escensially brand new bike thats super high preformance that can keep up with any 250f out there easily. Gotta love 2 strokes. Especially 125's. So much you can do with them Smile
