Maybe do not know alot about this bike but think 'Belgarda' was Italian Yamaha main importer that he rode for but think this was an official Yamaha works bike.
Brit Robbie Herring may also of had a very similar bike but did not ride for Belgarda Yamaha, as Fanton did but Herring too may have had a works bike also.

Herring won both the races at the Yugoslavian GP that year and Fanton came 2nd or 3rd in the same GP but was injured for the first part of the year but second half posted a few decent top 5 GP races. Herring came 5th in the World Championship that year and Fanton 9th.

Think Fanton had a long career and was a good rider, even posting some good results in the twilight years of his career up against many younger and fast riders.

edit : From the few pics I have found, I think Herring had the same forks also in 87 on his YZ but used conventionals on his works '88 bike, where as Pekka Vehkonen used what looked like the 87 forks on his works '88.
Lovely bikes those OW's for sure. Think Terry Good has Herrings old '88 works bike.

Nick at Pro Racing Suspension, based at Crick in the UK used to look after Rob Herrings suspension back in the late 80s early 90s, a quick google search should pull up their website, he might be able to point you in the right direction of a set of those forks or factory Kayaba..... I had a set of factory conventional Kayabas from him many, many moons ago.
