Hi Chris92six, Unfortunately there is nothing like 'right colour code' for MX printing. There is way more behind it. Honestly I am printing graphics on my own for something over 6 months and still can't 'colour code' Yami's blue properly.

There are many factors in play:

1/ Media used for printing,
2/ then you have different printing profiles on you Printer to choose from,
3/ and also many custom settings to go along,
4/ quality & type of inks, etc.

So I guess everyone who has any experience with these kind of graphics had to figure out somehow their own way to get it done spot on. Honestly, the worst for me is KTM orange, especially when they changed the colour slightly between 13-14 and 16-17, etc. Its nightmare to match Smile But if there is anyone who has more helpful info on this topic I would also appreciate any kind of help Smile

Hi 2fmx!

Thanks for your response...
I got an almost yamaha blue in RGB but this doesnt work out with the printers...
And all the CMYK blue seems to me always a little purple-ish or to dark.
Maybe you can give me the CMYK code that you work with?! Would appreciate it...

Yeah i'm with you when it comes to ktm orange. They also got a diffrent orange from their kids sx range to their adults...

Greetings

Why not print of a small test piece with a range of pantones close to yamaha blue and try them on a bike? Then pick the best

First of you need to understand the difference between screen & print I guess Smile

RGB is ok with printers, as it will be RIPped in a post process by printer's software. BUT don't judge whats going on on screen in terms of RGB vs CMYK gamut shown. The colour representation on digital media like screens is science on its own. Basically you need to try to print to see the real result.

So, I started around with C100 M95 Y0 K4, and then worked it out with different printer profiles, colour/contrast adjustments, etc. Some known brands of printers also have their colour library which you can print and match, it works sort of on Spot colour referencing, where your CMYK can have also for example M85,45 format or simialr, to get the right colour. But from experience this also always needs to be tweaked in profiling settings...

Best bet is to print a blue gradient, and work off the the plastics. Or outsource your printing to a Moto graphics company.

Back in 2005-2006 a couple years after I had started printing graphics and was riding yamaha's at the time I was able to track down that reflex blue was the official blue of yamaha. with the correct color profile on your printer it would match stock plastic perfectly. I've always stuck with it although im not sure if yamaha has changed their color at all over the past decade.

Thanks for your help guys...

I'll try out some different blue tones and see which one matches the best with the plastics.
