Hey all, I've got a 2007 crf250r and Ive noticed a pretty big decline in brake performance lately. My front brake (I use it pretty heavily) is super spongey and squeaks when I pull it in and try to push the bike forward standing still. Also, it seems like no matter what kind of pressure I put on my back brake it just locks up? (It could just be me being an idiot, lol) Should I be looking at new pads, lines, or fluids?
I've been using Galfer pads and very happy with them! Sintered pads work amazing!
go bottom to top, pull caliper off remove the pistons, the seals in the caliper can get full of junk making them stick, unless you can push the pistons in and out using your fingers with ease they need attentin, grease with proper sil-glyde brake grease. anything else will swell and ruin the seals.
pull the brake guide pins and polish them up, grease with proper grease so it doesn't swell and ruin the seals
consider rebuilding the master cylinder (pro x makes a great quality rebuild kit)

Back brake may be adjusted too high so your not getting much feeling on it and locking it up? Try lowering it a little and see if that helps. I set mine so I'm comfortable braking stood up but to brake sat down I need my toe on the brake and my heel is off the peg. If you set it so your heel in on the peg when braking sat down, it'll be that low that you'll never reach it when your standing.
Also boots with a hinge make a huge difference. I wear gaerne sg12's
