One thing to consider is jumps don't have to be one direction only. If you build squares, they could act as tabletops in 4 directions. That opens the possibility of going both length wise and width wise on your track with sections that cross over each other. You can also use the sides of jumps as berms to save space. Don't limit yourself by not opening up the option of crossing over the track.

Flip stick how did he get the dirt to make the jumps and berms? That place looks awesome fun
He literally dug it all up from where it's at. The land is up on a hill and it sort of slopes. So he just dug into it and pushed dirt up. He's got two dozers and at the time was a supervisor of a construction company. So he had one of his workers deliver a earth mover off one of the job sites he was working on. That helped a lot lol. He's always had a track tho. Since we were teens at another piece of property. He would throw parties and we'd ride till midnight. Then build a bonfire and drink all night. Lol good times!

Well doesn't that look like fun. What does your friend do for a living? I mean having a track under lights is pretty awesome.

He was a supervisor of some sort at a construction company in Austin. His dad owned an electrical and construction business. Hence the dozers and used lights and poles. The lights came from a old walmart parking lot and school I think that they tore down. He's also got a water trailer and stuff. It's nice. Lots of trails out on the property as well. He has another more traditional mx track he just finished up on another piece of property. Should be railing on that pretty soon!

Nice, we have farmland and an acreage that I grew up on. Always had a track there growing up. We had a backhoe and some sprayers for water. Now I live an hour away from there so it is hard to keep it maintained. Someday I'll have something like what your friend has. The lights are awesome! So jealous.

That's a little small for a track unless its a 50/65 track. I had 400x600 for mine, 6 lanes, and I almost never saw 4th gear. IMHO at minimum one needs 3 acres to build on, unless you just want to have an arenacross track, and that would get boring fast. I'd rework mine every Spring to change it up cause even with a 1:15 lap time it got old after the 1,000th lap. Smile

Yeah, its lots of work for him to keep up with it and prep it and stuff. When the cows get in there they go bananas and screw it all up! Laughing Sick

The damn cows on the range land next To my track got through the fence once right after I moved in and it's amazing how much they can fuck shit up. For some reason they love to be up on top of the jumps. Probably just for predator watching. The rancher came and got em and fixed the fence. Then one time he saw motorcycle tracks in the creek bed by the road and came and told me not to trespass on his rangeland(state owned) because the bikes will ruin the Vegetation. I just laughed and told him to GTFO.

I used to run and build all the tracks at an indoor arenacross called HindsightMX. The track path on many of those track layouts may work here. I'm not talking the jumps and so forth , but the path of the layout. You could do a 4 lane track pretty comfortably. Think of it as a mini Daytona track or something.
No kidding!? I rode there a few times. Fun place. I was actually envisioning some of those set ups while walking around the property.

Personally, I would go through and let the area make the track for you. Rather than making arbitrary corners, go around the natural flow of the timber. I put something down in the darker spots, where it looks like there are fewer trees...or at least fewer big trees.

It really sucks taking down big trees and removing stumps. You'll spend tons of time and money doing that vs building a suitable track that looks more natural.

I don't know the different elevations of the dirt, but you can cut that in in the same manner, moving less dirt is always better. I always dig down in parts of the track that I want the water to flow to then I have dirt to build up the areas I don't want to be swampy or for jumps/berms.

One of the designs above would be a little boring for me, I like a mix of turns. Also, if you really want some fun build the track in a way that you can reverse it easily. Flipping the lips of the jump is pretty easy if you built up the landings.

That's a killer design.
And the idea of container tunnels or 4 way table tops are great ideas too!

I've built a few tracks for myself & others in the great NW. Best bet like mention before is clear the land and ride it a bit. Pulling fir stumps is a complete bitch without a large track hoe & it looks like you have a few. Other thing is drainage. With all the rain we get you need to think about being able to actually use the track for more than a few months out of the year. Also, the more extravagant you get the more maintenance it will need. I have a dozer and 4wd tractor for our 3/4 mile long outdoor SX track. If you keep it simpler it will be decent practice and not a full time job for upkeep......

I'd take the area and make two long whoop sections (length ways) connected by two flat corners on one side, and on the other side I'd build a bunch of hardcore endurocross obstacles.

it wouldn't be a fun place to ride, but it would be good for practicing bike skills.

Hahahaha. Well that escalated quickly. Just do a winding track that fits between the tree's so you don't have to clear much, place a jump or two where there's room between, small whoop section and lots of corners to keep you feeling " busy " out there.

I would try to make the track rideable in both directions so that way you have "2" tracks in one.
