I agree with you though that in an infinite universe there is possibly infinite replicas and combinations of us.
Their is a version of you doing the craziest, most nasty thing you can ever think of right now.

"For instance: A gravel driveway has black, red and yellow stones. If you look for a combination of 3 of those stones touching each other you find them. If you look for the combo with 6 of them touching in a specific order you'll have to look a little longer until you find it, but its there. If you look for the combo with 12 it will take you a lot longer to find than 6...then look for 18 etc. then look for 36 and etc...look for 100 etc....
Now think of yourself as a combination of 560,000 stones. Look all over the univserse, it might take you forever ( much longer than we can possibly survive), but that combination of 560,000 stones (you) is out there"
This makes sense the way you have laid it out , but to me it only makes sense if we assume there are a finite amount of colors , that stones come in . Why would we make that assumption ? If we assume the opposite , that there are an infinite amount of colors then there would be an infinite amount of configurations . So we could travel along the road and find things that are similar to you , but not exactly you , IMO of course . Not trying to bust your balls George , I just like thinking about these things .
cool thread , cheers guys .
These ideas are nearly impossible for a normal person like myself to truly grasp because of the size of the universe. As explained to me by someone much smarter: "You can understand how far a distance is between the city you live in and the next city. You can grasp how far it is to the next state. Now think about how far it is to drive around the world and you can understand that but things get a bit hazy. Now try to think how far it is to drive around the world 100,000 times and that distance becomes hard to visualize. Compare that to the distance of a single light year and we start to better understand why it's so hard to think and understand distances in space."
This inifinute universe idea could ultimately be proven wrong or right, but the distances we face in space will always be HUGE.
