Some states have reciprocity agreements on sales tax, and remit to each other. Has been that way for a few years now. I think New York has a lot of states on line, from what I read.

Motosport is by far the best company to buy parts from. They ship the items extremely quickly and I could not ask for anything more. The one time I ordered boots that I didn't like they took them back with no questions asked. I'm a loyal customer and believer in motosport. Great company that also supports the sport. I generally order late at night on a whim and get the crap 2 days later. What more could you expect?

I'll defend this company until the end so I would just move on with any negative comments. They can charge whatever they want.....it is their prerogative.

Ive had similar problems in the past. If you want to buy from the states i have two shops that are brilliant to deal with. They have quite a few international customers and dont do the whole automatic duty thing like moto sport and sometimes ebay.

I've never had a problem with Motosport. Their service has been great. Unfortunately for them I have been finding way way better prices elsewhere. For OEM anything, go Honda of Toledo East you will be blown away at the price difference.
Wow, thanks for the reference. Wish I'd have known about them when I got a new head and cylinder on my crf.

Their prices are great but hope you are not looking for it in a hurry. I did a winter project rebuild so didn't need things in a hurry and ordered a bunch of parts from them. Some came within a week, but many took 2-3 weeks. Actually one set of bolts/nuts came like 2 months latter after I had already sold the bike! I'll order from them again when doing long term projects but not for anything I need in a hurry.

Cheap Cycle Parts is a good company to deal with. Their OEM parts are about 10% over dealer cost on most items for all major brands. Every order has been low priced and packaged well and fast shipping. Amazon is also a good source, Ebay not so much. Ebay is a good source for vintage parts, just make sure the seller is honest and trust worthy. I only use local dealers if I need something that day. They are so overpriced, most of the employees are minimum wage, and don't know anything about motorcycles or care about good customer service. Most riders around here feel the same about our local dealers. I have tried to buy from my local dealers many times, but online shopping is so much better, cheaper and faster. And dealers wonder why they are struggling? Just my 2 cents.

I too have had a similar experience.

I used to buy lots of stuff from Motosport until they changed their shipping policy to Alaska which now is:

"All orders to Alaska and Hawaii are charged a flat-rate price for 2-day delivery regardless of order value. The flat-rate fee to Alaska is $24"

I asked them to charge me the actual rate, not $24 for some small piece or part, and charge me more on bigger stuff, and the answer was, nope.

Just checked my emails and I received a message from Rusty. It was great to hear he is still at MotoSport as I've dealt with him in the past when he was managing international orders and always found him to be great to deal with.
Rusty believes that Borderfree have most likely got their formula wrong for calculating the correct taxes and duties, and he said they are looking into it.

To be fair to MotoSport, they have jumped to action on this and have apologized for the initial poor response I got when I questioned the charges/process.
Rusty has also offered a 25% discount for the hassle.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt on this one, but it's a pity I only got the help I needed after tossing my toys, regardless they have come to the party and are working hard to make things right.

So, thank you MotoSport, I appreciate the support

I think it is Borderfree, or who ever else they use as if you look at alot of ebay auctions they use the same formula.
They are way over what should be charged on GST etc.

On another note just bought a pair of Alpinestar Tech 10, MX of nations LE boots from local shop cheaper than buying online.

This thread has inspired me to place an order today with the best online company for buying everything MX- MotoSport!

Their website is by far superior to anyone else's..Easier to navigate, easier to find parts/clothes...
