I have read in some past articles about the benefits of porting for the 2010-2013 YZ450F. It appears to have helped with the jerkiness, and also smoothed out the power while obviously making more horsepower too. This porting included the high compression piston also, but no other modifications. Yosh did one of the port jobs in an article, and it was really given a thumbs up by the testers. I have the Injectioneering throttle body modification, Stealthy flywheel, and a Roll On throttle tube which slows throttle response, and these have worked okay for alleviating the jerky throttle response. I am also considering the Vortex 10 Ignition too, as I have read that alone may be the ticket to smoothing everything out, and any comments concerning using it on this model would be appreciated. My question is, have any of you guys had these models and had the porting and HC piston done. If you did, was it worthwhile? I have a 2010 YZ450F that I am not getting rid of anytime soon, and was looking to make it more friendly for myself. There are a couple of GYTR heads online also, but they are about $300-400 more than the porting for my stock head, but that may be an option too. I will not be doing any cams or valve mods, only head and HC piston. Thx for any responses fellas.

The bike had a 14/52 sprocket combo on it initially, which again, I had nothing to compare it to. I recently swapped it out for a 13/50 and I have a feeling I will be going back to a 14/51 or 52 once these wear out. With my bike's motor, the 14/52 suited me much better.
