Im 43 and not much of a gamer but I have a kick ass computer that can handle it but......When I see the intro to the game where they are showing a rider going around a track Im like oh yea, thats awesome but then I see the actual gameplay itself Im like, uh, thats not realistic. And why would you ride from the sky camera view? Thats stupid. The cockpit view should be locked. Sky view is very arcadish to me. I may try it. To me the MX vs ATV has better, more realistic dirt but MX sim is better looking overall.

When you say "intro to the game" are you talking about the video on the mxsimulator.com Web page? Because that is an edited video. Yes you can choose to ride using either "first person" or "third person", but MX vs ATV has those same options.

Comparing MX Sim to MX vs ATV is an unfair comparison. MX Sim was created by one single person, not a corporation. There are default tracks and bikes that come with the purchase of the game and then everything beyond that is user created, and the content is pretty incredible.

Roll over to vurbmoto and look back through all of their track previews for Supercross and Outdoors this year. Those are all tracks that you can download from the MX Sim community. Check out the forum to see what all is available.

Oh and a little note, one of the former MX vs ATV team members from back in the reflex/alive Era, is one of the biggest contributors in MX Sim now.

Yeah i have played since 2009 but only casually now since the MXS community has probably evolved to one of the worst gaming communities that i have ever been involved with. Although that is just my subjective opinion, others might like how things work nowadays in MXS.

But the game sure is fun! The learning curve is very steep but that is what makes it so rewarding.

I've always wanted to get good at it, but I've never been able to find the time to sink 100 hours into it to learn how to play.

I've played it on and off for a few years. Love 90% of the game. Obviously it's not perfect but the learning curve is so hard. The turning is my only quirk. I honestly think that's what MXGP does good is bridge the gap between mx sim and mx vs atv. Somewhat realistic but easy enough to adapt to.
Love all the custom tracks and how everything is free. So much fun

I feel like sim has always been 95% there. It just needs a few physics tweaks and dirt deterioration. All around though I think it's the best mx game I've played. I haven't played MXGP though cause it won't run on my computer. It only beats reflex by a little, but I play both about the same amount. (not much lol)

I play on my Mac. Just download a program called WineBottler and it puts a drive on your computer that acts as Windows and allows you to play on your Mac. I have a late 2011 iMac and the game runs fine. Also using an Xbox controller is the way to go. I played with the keyboard for a while and will never go back. There are a few Xbox controller installers for Mac. I use an Xbox one controller wired with a micro usb cable.

What's the problem with the community?

Some of the top creators want money for their "work" of new models. People rip off their stuff and they get mad which leads to the fees they put. All the top guys get the exclusive stuff. If someone makes a shitty skin on the top model the creator gets butt hurt. Growth has been limited. All they do is bash bash bash. I use to do the arenacross series. Make the tracks and all and dealt with a fraction of what rF deals with and I agree with how shitty the community is. That's why I stick with only a few people in the community on the team I'm on. Greedy and immature persons that dictate the game and the content.

The "selling content" trend killed the community for me. MXS was not built on paid content in it's glory days 2010-12.

I play it pretty often and make a decent amount of videos with the game on YouTube! It's my favorite MX game and easily the best MX game that is popular right now. The game seems very unrealistic at first, but the more you play, the more realistic is gets! If you're on the fence about playing it, put at least 15-20 good hours of playing into the game before deciding if you like it or not, because once you start to get the hang of it, you'll already be hooked!

agree. i used to get hyped for national track releases and supercross releases. this season not so much. I think the direction the community is taking it will kill it eventually. Its an isolationist mentality that will stifle growth of a once great community.

i've been a gamer since my teens, i'm now 46. This is probably one of the best games ever in my book (because of mx background) and it was made this good strictly by the volunteer community...the game developer gave the tools to the community and let them do all the work...brilliant on his part.

have no problem with 3rd parties like RF charging fees for racing but i think its a mistake to withhold the content...even if its a delay. kinda reminds me of napster taking a dive when they switched pay to play.

I play a similar game called MX Bikes, if anyone is interested. It does not have near the community or amount of content that MX Sim has, but from playing both, I enjoy MX Bikes more. It's in the beta stage so it has a long way to go, but you can try it out for free to see if it's for you.

race factory started charging a one time fee each season to keep the yahoos out. people literally enter races to sabotage people they dont like, the fee is very small (1 hour of pay to anyone w a decent brain)

EMF GPs are free and they provide just as good GP tracks as the rF National tracks.

then release the tracks.

they started charging for a bunch of reasons but the one you listed is a small part of it. one of the major reasons were to reinburse a lot of the track builders for their time/investment....albeit they ain't gettin rich off it but its something. I just disagree with the model, not them charging for stuff.

Gas gyro has been in since day dot. You've got to accelerate the back wheel, usually the best way to do this is to shift up gears in the air. If you take off the jump close to the rev limiter, the back wheel won't be able to accelerate any further in that gear

i love the GP tracks, whoever makes them is a genius. i mean the original ones the new ones are good also, i think the 2013 tracks are the ones that feel really real. maybe 2014 idk.

mx bikes looks so lame, im telling you. once you learn how to ride good on mx simulator, its literally like real life. a first time player literally cant ride more than twenty feet without falling over. and trying to learn how to come into ruts and all the real life techniques takes MONTHS of an hour or two a night.
