I have a 60" 3D LG from about 2013. Paid about $1300 back then. Very happy.

If you are into the smart TV thing... dont bother with the built in OS's... Apple TV is the way to go IMO.

I would go to the store and see them in real life though.

I have that tv only in the 70 incher. sharp aquos ultra hd 4 k whatever it is. pretty nice, reasonable price, does mess up once in a while streaming but a reset seems to fix it. loses sounds or picture, also sometimes, casting to it...but overall it is pretty awesome. I do not have a sound bar, would like one but haven't gotten around to it yet.

You pay a premium for the 4K capability. 4K programs are scarce so I dont think the extra cost is worth it. Perhaps in the future, 4K will take off but its just not there yet.

Bought a 65" sharp aquos 2 years ago superbowl weekend. Very crisp and got a hell of a deal on it. Would recommend.

4K programming may be scarce but with twice as many pixels everything in HD which is almost everything looks really sharp. I paid less than 2 grand for my 70 samsung 4K Ultra HD TV . well worth the money.

VIZIO D60-D3 60" 1080p 120Hz Full Array LED Smart HDTV

Walmart $650 works great. Get a soundbar with a bluetooth subwoofer. I'll go bigger when it's time to upgrade.

Our TV just quit this past weekend and we went with A Samsung ks8000 55in. Pretty much the same tv as the ks9000 other than its not curved.

This is the one we bought about a year ago. 70" Vizio. It's been good so far. Really no complaints. Samsung is the only other brand I considered. Samsung has a built in internet browser built in and from what I understand, the other brands don't.

Another thing to consider is a soundbar or surround sound. The sound quality and volume out of the flat tv's isn't all that great. This is the one I got. It has decent sound quality and volume. Plus I like the bluetooth ability so I can blast my gangsta rap loud enough for the neighbors to hear.

Stay away from smart TV's unless you want them relaying your conversations and video back to HQ.

Apple TV's will give you the same functionalities, but Apple TV doesn't like to play anything that wasn't downloaded from iTunes. If you've got a library of downloaded titles, then a dedicated home theater PC would be a better option. Personally I've got a WDTV Live box that I love but they've been discontinued and the refurbished units are going for more than retail ever was now. They'll play almost anything you throw at them.

Getting a sound bar is good point. Surprisingly the internal speakers on our new tv aren't that bad. 4.1 sound but I still use a sound bar

Jeez I think I'll be satisfied with 55 inches. I mean I got a 42 now that's broke. And a 32 in my bedroom.

Just not sure if I should get into this 4K. I can get a comparable tv for like $200. Well actually a lot nicer than my Panasonic viera and these tvs are getting so cheap. Paid $900 for mine in 2008.

Yes... If you want to play downloaded tunes or ripped dvds on your Apple TV you would need a desktop with iTunes running on it to stream from.

I have that setup and love it. Not difficult to setup.

I thought I was going to be happy with a 70" TV, but it turns out I would like one that's a little bigger. My entertainment can hold up to an 80" TV I think. Might have to find me one of those.

At that point why not project it on your wall?!

I'm being slightly facetious. But I do look at my TV on occasion and think I could use something bigger. The price difference from 70 to 80 is WAY more than I'd realistically consider.

The projectors I've seen don't do well if there is lighting in the room. They work well in a dim room, but if you get much light from the sun or houselights, it starts to get harder to see.

Had two samsungs nothing but complaints here..

Now a 65" Sony 4K Bravia a million times better so far. Didn't need or particularly look for a 4K but the deal was to good to pass

Once you move up in size initially it feels to big but a month later you're wishing it was bigger. 65" is as small a tv as I'll ever have. I even have a 65 in our bedroom

Living Room here has a 60 inch Samsung 4K LED TV. It's great and no complaints. I got it at Best But for less than 500 bucks on a good sale promotion and a coupon I got from my email. It retailed at over a grand.
Our kitchen, we have a great little 32 inch Vizio wall mounted. Mainly to watch sports or whatever while we're cooking or have guests over. Bedroom of ours we put in a 50 inch Vizio 4k LED on a wall mount. I think the Samsung has better color, but still really good. My daughter just got a 46 inch Samsung for her room that she seems to like.
Just find something you like that is in your budget. But I'll say this, Vizio and Samsung seem to have the best ratings.

Yea I just got this tv for $428. I can't complain. Fiance needed and bought a new iPhone and got a $200 gift card for buying it. So we used that to get a sound bar. Hopefully we are set for a while now. I can't believe how cheap the technology is getting.

We had a 40 inch Panasonic. So this seems yuge as Donald trump would say.

What really chaps my ass is moto, even in GDHD, they chop the top and bottom off the screen for ad space. . . I didn't buy 70 inches for sponsors to take up 15% of the real estate. Find a different way to pay the bills without wasting screen space.

Had a thread on here a while back on 4k... This is what I have learned since...

The new Xbox one s started shipping last week... I have held off on a 4k blu Ray player, but pulled trigger on the latest x box... They start at 299 which is cheaper than other 4k players on the market...

Yes, 4k blu rays (which are readily available in stores like Target and best buy) look freakn awesome... Way better than 1080... However.. I have found that the upscaler in my 65" curved Samsung was already doing a great job... So while 4k blu rays look better than upscaled 1080 blu rays, it was not a huge leap... What was a huge leap was the 4k upscaling on 1080 content compared to 1080 on a 1080 TV... To boil that down, even if u don't run 2160 source content, a good 4k TV with a good upscaler will still make your old 1080 content look noticeably better...
