I was riding yesterday and it started to feel like my clutch was slipping and not engaging until the very end of the lever and still slipping some. Then it was just completely gone and would roll in gear like it was in neutral. My clutch cable won't pull the arm and shaft that the cable attaches to by the motor. I took the plates out and then the arm will move freely pushing the rod up and down in the actual clutch but won't move when I put it back together. Any ideas?
As the pressure plate and hub faces wear it can bottom out on that rod that runs thru the shaft. There is an adjuster on the pressure plate to compensate for wear. There should be a ball bearing inside that adjuster thst the rod end rides on.
Once the surface of the pressure plate and hub face wear away a new set of plates will not fix the problem.
The arm that the cable hooks to can be lifted out while you have the clutch apart. Take it out and check the surface that shoves the rod thru the shaft.
I've seen the rod get bound up in the shaft and spin like a drill and ruin the surface of the actuator arm.
Hope i made sense ,it is early and i got a little whiskey brain left from last nite.
And those 2 faces are what take the abuse.
If worn enuff the pressure plate will bottom out on the actuator rod which is what i suspect happened.
The adjuster lets you compensate for that and there is a sweet spot where the actuator arm gets the most mechanical advantage where the rod touches the arm face.
Question, how deep are the notches in the basket fingers where the fiber plates ride?
