Buddy of mine is 61 six foot two 220 pounds of muscle. Presently owns 525 KTM that's ten years old and can't be plated. He has cash in hand but tells me KTM and Husky have nothing between a 350 and a 500/525 that he can get a plate for. Suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

Theres a few 03's that are out there. They had to have plates put on before 04. New bikes, the VIN tattletells on them.

Just a suggestion. Find a beat to shit Older Street version register that bike, the license lives on the 525.

Just tell the Officer you didnt know you could do that. Hillary got away with it.

There's not too many options for us in California for plated bikes. Like already stated, unless it was done before '04, it's going to be a challenge. There are a few guys I know who have gone to the extent of getting a bike (CRF450) through the system, only to get the plate revoked the next time the registration came up. Personally wasn't worth the risk to me, so I bought a '14 KTM EXC500. Really good bike, but expensive. I'm going to be selling it to buy the '17 model, but it won't be a cheap one, I have a bunch of money into it.

Actually, my "Streeter" is a 350.

The 450 FE "can' be plated...it takes a little bit of work, tho.

A guy CAN go buy an FE in -another state- with a plate and bring it into CA as a plated bike.

FE "S" = Street

FE = Off-Road (Has lights and EPA cert).

Edit: Husky makes an FE450 (Off-Road).

How much "cash in hand"? KTM made a street legal 450 EXC and Husky has a street legal FE450 for 2017- that one should run about $11k.

By the way, I really enjoy my CA plated CRF450X. Even though Vital Mx tells me that nobody rides Hondas or carbureted bikes. Grinning

I had my CRF450x for a couple of years already and never had a problem with revoking license plates at all. I guess if you go to the auto club, then there is no problem. I absolutely love the bike. It's like two bikes in one. One version is a desert bike and I recently purchased a super Moto Kit for it. Blast in desert and blast in canyons. Plus, it's a Honda!

Probably late July/Early August.

Traveling to Canada a lot and have my street-scoot torn down...tho, it appears it REALLY didn't need it!
