I delete all of them. You could post something ripping on either candidate, and it's disappearing.

This is by far the most contentious election cycle that I've seen since I started doing this.

There are no winners in this one.

If one wanted to discuss criminal actions but the bad person was/is a politician,
does that then make it "political" and out of bounds?
The bad part is that so much of our lives (seems like more than any other time
in my life) is affected by the bad behavior of the politicians and sometimes you just want
to talk about it. I get it that this is rough for you and you want your board to be less
aggressive. But right now these things are very driving factors in all of our lives.
Example, last night one of the most horrible things I could imagine happened. Bad
people ambushed people that by and large are good people. Some bad apples in their
group just like any other group. Guaranteed in the coming days we will hear about how
"if we just take away the guns" and many here see that's not the problem but it will
be part of the discussion. These are things that have great affect on how we live our
lives and it's disappointing to not be able to discuss. Literally, you could root any
discussion to a political stance.
The brand of milk we buy is effectively the outcome of political decisions that drive
some farmers out of business and what's left is the "choice" we buy.
I don't like it when members attack others, but to pretend that major issues don't exist
so we can get along and talk about what bricks to use to line the driveway with seems
like a waste.

I think a part of the problem is that users tend to take issues here in the non moto and carry it over to the Moto section where they hold a certain animosity towards someone because of their political or religious differences that are expressed here.

I'm assuming that Neuman's absence is somehow related to these deleted discussions?

Yes, that's a solution, but after having posted for years here, I'd rather be able to
have civil discussion of things that affect our lives with people I've come to know
somewhat. In fairness, those who post here are attracted to a very aggressive sport
and probably have somewhat of a shorter fuse then John Q. Public but none the less
here I am. Ya know, over on the moto side it gets far worse for topics that are less
significant. You can't throw a compliment at JS7 without being called a "nut hugger"
within 3 posts.

I've been called worse Wink
Even been told to try things that are anatomically impossible Unsure
Sometimes we are careless with our words and it can even seem that way
but if someone has seen the bulk of my (or anyone's) other posts
they probably know that's not the case. Or maybe I'm just too stupid to
know that I'm really a hater Silly

I have a better idea. Don't post political stuff, and then I don't have to delete it. Smile

It's GuyB's board, he can do what he wants...but I'm my opinion, I don't see a problem with a civil discussion on politics...a political discussion that turns into a pissing match, that should be deleted...

I like discussing politics...and prefer to do it with people I "know" a bit, and have a history with, opposed to the countless trolls that are all to common on political forums...I try and stay civil and keep the personal attacks out of it.

I would appreciate it if the civil political threads could hang around...but like I said, it's Gibbies board, and I respect that he can run it how he wants.

I disagree...since Oldfart was canned, for the most part political threads have been decent...and those that aren't, are usually polluted by the same few posters...eliminate those posters, and the threads stay even more civil.

Let it go man. , Is it that important?

My opinion that political threads spill over to moto is that it's very rarely true.

Civil discussion is what the United States of America was founded on. I'm always curious what a dirtbiker thinks about today's current issues.
Although it matters little in my life.
My Internet traffic now goes elsewhere in those matters.

There should be a secret "time-out" forum where all the clicked members get banished to. Clicked-members only, political threads only. That way all the unruly self-proclaimed political wizards can debate over who's got the bigger political schlong without having to whip it out in front of everyone in every single thread.
