Tips on selling bikes

The graphics look like worn out spray paint. Get them off and relist the bike with new pictures taken outside, new description and new, slightly higher price.

Things Creepslist people will say ; 1. Will you trade for some guns and a broken quad ? 2. Would youse take payments on 'er ? 3. Trade for a pinball machine and an old oil-can ? 4. Can you send me 30 more pics, fully realizing I have no intention of buying, just want to waste your ******* time ?

At least you guys aren't getting the New England craigslist reply. Up here they just ask you to text them your address and nobody shows up. Then 4 days later, your bike disappears from your garage in the middle of the night.

Ok so I've been trying to sell quite a few bikes lately but Id like to know a better way. I usually use Craigslist and some Facebook groups and I am very thorough and honest with my descriptions. All 4 of my bikes have been in really good condition and I listed them as what I thought I would pay for them.

It's just seems that you can't do that. When I first started looking into the market I noticed a lot of bikes priced wayyyy higher than they should have been. I just blew it off as they don't know too much. But maybe by pricing them so high they actually get the amount they really want out of the bike.

As for when I posted my bikes for the actual amount I wanted, all I got was low balls usually 10-20% less than asking price.

I was just wondering if there were any tips or tricks to selling. Thanks Smile
You're about to learn another lesson: the bike isn't sold until you have cash in your hand.

Yeah I've 'sold' so many things just to be left high and dry. Although I've honestly had pretty good luck on craigslist selling things myself.

If it looks stock and barely touched you get calls all day.

Advice. Next bike. Take off all stock immediately. Buy acerbis kit and do what you want. Buy aftermarket ignition covers, and all the cool nicknacks you want. But Save stock parts for the resale. When you sell put the bitch back to stock with brand new attrax tires, new chain and sprockets. List slightly high 10-20%, take the first low ball (what you actually want).

Or list what you want. If looks great tell them to pound salt. Firm is firm. They'll buy.

Just sold my victory kingpin for 7k. Guy wanted to beat me up all day on price when he looked at it. I just said no. I'll ride it. No. No. And he paid what I wanted.

The guys saying make it look stock are correct. New OEM tank decals go a long way too. It's a fine art bringing it back to showroom and might cost $150 but your bike will be gone in a week or two if not sooner. As far as craigslist goes don't put your contact info in add. Instead put "email me with your phone number" This screens out all but the serious buyers. Don't even bother replying to the jackasses that start right off " will you take blah blah for your bike" when they haven't even seen it yet. Don't give your final street house number until they are actually in their car driving over. Make sure you got the nine in your front pocket when you walk out to greet them.

Some of you are getting low ball confused with wanted price. A low ball Is like 1/2 of the asking price or even less. Always start higher than you really want. You can always go down but never raise the price once negotiating.
