Anyone who has watched Nico ride knows he has talent. But has it gone to waste. A video came out about his recovery and getting back to racing and starting to race a high point. Well he wasn't there. Sickrecoveryracing seems like to be a stand up guy trying to help racers that have gone through addiction such as Izzi and stroupe. Seems like from his Instagram posts that Izzi is not around. Could he have relapsed. Anyone have any information?

He just posted on Instagram today. It appears he's helping some riders train for Loretta's at the moment.

I hope the best for Nico. But, I hope he isn't trying to stay sober working his "own program" because the one at Sick Recovery was too hard, or too strict...or whatever. I tried to work my "own program" too many times...and relapsed many times behind it. Not saying Nico will, I'm just saying that every addict must have accountability. I hate to see talent like he has...or any life period, go to waste.

If he is around the same people that he was with doing it and even in the same town it wont work.

Get a bike and go somewhere away from those things and ride the poison out, that would probably work.

Perhaps the gun was jumped a little early here. May want to reconsider title wording.

The plan was to race IF he was ready. His recovery was priority uno, so maybe SRR didn't feel racing was in Nico's best interest, yet.

In that thread, SRR was on board with his riding until they weren't. I highly doubt their decision to not support him any longer changed without some sort of relapse.

The unfortunate thing is that most addiction counselors & substance abuse specialists agree that "relapse is a part of recovery". That means, that sometimes the best way to get an addict firmly on track is to let him slip...and let it cost him plenty...and he can see what he stands to lose if he keeps using, whereas they might lose sight of that if they are quasi-sober.

Not sure why SRR doesn't support him any more, but seems like they were "all in" with Nico as long as he wanted to stay clean & ride.

He's posted on Instagram and Twitter multiple times in the last 24 hours... I'd hardly call that "off the grid".

Too funny...people are considered to be hiding out these days even if they are posting like mad.

True, they need to keep doing it until they hit THEIR bottom. Physically, mentally, financially. ..all of them, whatever it is. Had anyone heard of Chris Herren? He played for Fresno st, Denver nuggets and Boston Celtics. He is an addict and lost everything, many times. He wrote a book and has an espn 30 for 30. He talks a lot about how we push our kids in sports and put an unbelievable amount of pressure on themat a very young age. He had scouts watching him from 10 years old. Now, he isn't blaming his addiction on that, but saying that kids need a way to cope with that pressure, a release. Those who are predisposed to be an addict may use drugs as an outlet. Every kid deals with it one way or another and not all the same. But most isn't healthy so young. We have a TON of this type of pressure in this sport. Nico went to drugs, unfortunately it's easier said than done to quit. I bring up Chris Herren because he had it all. Read his book or watch a you tube video with him. He says it better than i can and can answer the "how could you fuck up what most would Kill for" question

Oh, and I'm not saying he did relapse. No clue, but I hope he's just doing his thing and helping so kids. He could still give back so much and have a great career
