OK boys and girls I thought I should let you all in on my next/current build. Any friends on Facebook and Instagram have seen the updates but I'll put this on here for the non-social media punters.

Started off with this 1995 CR250 in much need of some serious love!

And I need to turn it into this...

Except I'll be running my number 19 on it (coincidently Mike Craig's race number for HoT in 95)

Agree.. That bike really is desperate for love and attention !
But by looking at your McGrath build, you gonna turn this one in a beauty to !

I'm really looking forward to follow this build. Few years ago i spend hours and hours behind the computer reading your McGrath replica build.

Well good luck on this one. Wink

Frame repairs needed. Weld up these holes that had rubber grommets from new (you can't buy the rubber grommets)

Remove the rear brake tags as I'll be running a late model master cylinder with built in reservoir.

Before and after engine pics. All new OEM parts used throughout including all bearings and seals. Engine cases and head were hydro blasted and all fasteners were zinc plated. Cylinder was replaced with a new 2001 cylinder (old cylinder was toast).

This bike is gonna turn out nice. I know where a set of kyb kit 43mm forks are. Same as what the team ran.

Not to throw a shameless plug out there, but when it comes to two stroke crank bearings (which is mostly what we carry as far as crank bearings go) we use straight from Japan KOYO bearings. I know some of the OEM's charge an arm and a leg for those things and that's what came to mind when I saw the OEM bearing in this build.

Very nice build here, looking forward to updates.

Before and after on the clutch basket. Came up nice just with a file and then a hydroblast.

Before and after on the power valves. The power valve was partially removed when I got it as the previous owner had removed the cylinder. Cylinder is brand new but hydroblasted. All powervalve parts (including the cover) are original but were bead blasted and the bearing is new.

You're right that IS a shameless plug Tongue Laughing

I got my bearings OEM from the US for less than I could get All Balls (or anything else) in Australia. Obviously they are just Koyo and I'll pay a little extra for the OEM packet but I can live with that Wink

Before and after on the hubs. They were bead blasted and fitted with new bearings and seals. The team ran stock hubs so these will be laced up as is.

Old radiators were toast.

I ALMOST went the Chinese route (OEM radiators are discontinued) but the Chinese ones I bought would not bolt up correctly. The RH side hit the motor and the holes wouldn't line up anyway

I eventually picked up some used OEM radiators in good condition and cleaned them up like new.

I bought a 95 MC replica, but it turned out to have some issues, so I'm doing a full rebuild. I have a build thread going on my bike too. It has China radiators that don't fit either. I'm looking to buy some used OEM 94 radiators, in decent shape. How did you clean yours to look so good? Thanks

Radiators are the same from 92-96. The product I use is called Posbrite and is produced in Australia. You literally just bath the radiators in it for 5 mins and pull them out and they look like new! I then apply a coat of Chemtech Alushine which leaves a protective coating on them.

The tank! Wow this was seriously bad. Stained from years of petrol and then painted (poorly) just to top it off. I actually sent it away to a plastic renew detailer for a facelift and this is the result...
