Once AC is to far back points ,he should take rest of year off n fix his arm.

It's not over yet.

He will be a contender in 2017 if he stays healthy in the offseason training and comes to Qatar 100% healthy.

1 moto was bad for someone who wants to win the championship. Remember he must gain points on Febvre and Gajser, not loose more points.

1ste moto he got the holeshot, lost places to Gajser and Febvre and wasn't fast enough to folow the 2 young guns.

He has won 2 Gp's, thats right. He wil probably win another but only if Febvre and Gajser make mistakes.

Febvre and Gajser are on another level.

Cairoli is not done but he's not gonna win another championship.

I'll believe it when I see it. AC has always been ultra consistent and has taken advantage of his competitions mistakes. AC is a damn legend. Unfortunately I believe it's over. The only way AC will have a chance to win next year is if Gasjer comes the the united states and Febvre and Herlings get injured.

I honestly think the new generation (Gasjer & Febvre) are on another level. Take those two out and AC is in the same position he has always been in, winning. Not taking anything away from AC, but Gasjer and Febvre are just better.

It's not over it will never be over for a rider like ac222. Doesn't matter how good gajser and the young guys get ac will be there in title contention. When you are 3rd in the championship and still winning races we can't really write him off huh?

Tony is a sly old fox, as mentioned before the new leaders are pushing beyond the edge, neither has won a World Championship straight up without help from injuries to the competition. A DNF or a race missed due to injury is not out of the question and Tony is in the hunt in 3rd place even after his slow injury recovering start.

I agree with the idea that the young guns have run him down and passed him. Will he be able to push faster now? I doubt it.

I'll wait until after Assen. 3 of the next 6 tracks are sand so things could shake up a bit. If Gajser or Febvre make mistakes there's more guys who can play spoilers. If they don't, the writing will be on the wall.

IMO he has not looked the same since his crash at the MxDN in 2014. In 2015 or this year he hasn't ridden like he had in 2014 or earlier.

Febvre beat Cairoli straight up in the sand in Valkenwaard wich is his AC place. Febvre also won Assen last year with eas. Those guys can ride sand.

All fair points but Simpson won Assen. Febvre won a moto. Tony's form at Valkenswaard is not his form now. I do think that sand tracks lend themselves to causing more mistakes and also allowing certain specialists to be more competitive than normal. Once they come stateside I don't think much will change in the points so that was my reasoning.

If he's not within 10-15 points of the championship leader after Assen, put a fork in him.

Agree with the Assen 10-15 point issue. In the states there will be some wildcards taking points away from the regulars chasing the Championship but still a spread of 10-15 is within reason

I don't think Tony is "over"...but I don't see him winning another World Championship either. I'm a huge fan, but Febvre & Gasjer have raised the bar...and the pace required to win. But, man...you have to give TC222 the credit for being a freaking animal. You don't get eight titles in a row by being anything less.
