How was your weekend?

I raced Saturday!.....took daughter to carnival sunday...then a bbq Monday....went too fast....

I had the week off leading up to the holiday weekend also. Got some yard work done ,got out turkey hunting and hung some trail cameras . Mostly just did a lot of relaxing.

Explored an abandoned house. You can barely see it through the trees, so pretty overgrown. Climbed up to take a look in the 2nd story windows as the ground floor ones are boarded up. Discovered after that the door was open and only looked padlocked. Roof top deck with a fireplace too. Pretty creepy place but kind of cool. My dog wouldn't come in.

Spent 3 days in Dubai with the misses who flew over from the States. Got to spend some QT and just check the place out.







And picked me up my first road bike to go kill some fat cells. Super stoked on getting some days off and trying this thing out.

We went to the podunk town of Jackpot, Nevada and watched April Wine in concert. Still sound pretty good for pushing 70 years old, for Miles and Bruce.

Yup Newfy. He missed out on the spiral staircases and what looked like blood on one of the bedroom floors.

Mine was pretty damn good. Started with a 2 day Golf tournament and threw in some mountain biking

I spent the week riding some trails by my place in Lake Arrowhead, and 3 days at Glen Helen. Didn't do shit the last two days trying to recover.

The wife worked Saturday and Sunday (12 hours shifts @ the hospital) so had our 11 month old twins by myself - was all I could do to keep up with them..

Once they went to bed pulled the oil pan off my beater commuter car (Saab 9-5 with 255K miles) and found the source of the low oil pressure at idle- as expected a big glob of sludge clogging the pick up screen:

After over 17 years of working holidays I'm enjoying retirement. Went to the lake with family, took a drive, I like it.

We pulled out Thursday evening heading to the Southeast regional LLQ . Practice went well on Fri.. There was a shit load of rain on Friday evening and Muddy Creek was living up to its name for the first half of Saturday's practice and moto's. Our weekend was cut short late sat. when another rider when down in front of my son. It left us with a busted up left radiator. Either way we had a good time and it was a great experience.

I spent the weekend on my families mountain property fixing the fence so we can get the cattle up there for the summer. The Elk, snow and falling trees trash it every year so we have to (get to, actually, I love it up there) walk the perimeter every spring and piece it all back together so the cows don't get out.

It's been in my family for two generations (I'll be the third), so there is a ton of sentimental value (probably more value there than actual dollar value) in the property...it's just STEEP! So its quite the workout to get around it.


This is my dad and two of my brothers. Gives you an idea of how steep it is. It really drops off about 30 yards further down.


Another picture to show how steep it is...this is the South end, to the north it flattens out a bit on top, with plenty of good grazing. Our cattle stay up there for the most part, but if we want neighboring property owners cows to stay off our property its our responsibility to put up the fence to keep them out (I always though it should be the other way around...but whatever), and so the fences on the south side are to keep other peoples cattle off, more than keep ours in. This is facing South/Southeast, and everything you can see here is our property (its just shy of 4,000 acres total...then there is another couple hundred acres a few miles south, and then 600 more down in the valley where we grow hay for the cows to eat all winter).

Mine was good, enjoyed the sunshine, drove up into the mountains and spent a day at lake Vyrnwy.

Spent a lot of time looking back in Oklahoma.

Got to put about 400 miles on the street bike on Sunday, rode up to hang out with the parents at the cabin in Kalkaska/Traverse City area. Got out on a buddy's boat yesterday, got sunburn for the first time this year and loved it! I was so sick of winter so this weekend was just what I needed.

Oh, and I stopped by the memorial in town to pay respects to my 6 (5 dead, 1 alive still) grand-uncles who all served in WWII. Grandma (their sister) brings all her grandkids to the memorial every year since I was a little kid, and it's the one family event I make sure and get to every year.

All in all fantastic weekend

Went to the gun shop, wasn't planning on buying. I might have a problem. Gonna need another safe soon. Bought me a browning Citori 725 feather. This thing is pretty I love it. Spent Memorial Day smoking clays with my new over under.

Yeah it is pretty cool, it's in Wales, just outside Snowdonia national park. It's a pretty overlooked outside of the UK, but in my opinion it's one of the coolest places you can go in Europe. Although, I have noticed a lot of Dutch cars this summer so maybe people do know about.

It's actually a straining tower as it's a reservoir, it pulls water onto an aqueduct and sends it to Liverpool. They just built it to be pretty I guess, they don't build things like they used to haha.

There is also a village under all that water somewhere as well. This picture gives a better perspective.
