Exhaust valve - 2005 Rm 250

I can't get the exhaust valve shaft removed. It is stuck on. I started really tourqing on the hex heads but I stopped cause I think I started to strip one of them. How do I remove? Is it really necessary that I remove and inspect/clean? I'm just trying to get it running right now.

Use PB Blaster penetrating oil and let set for at least 24 hours.

Or run it through your dishwasher. Preferably an almost brand new designer European one. Wife won't care much...
It will get it super clean though to start with.. Looks pretty gummed up

If you can also clean it up really good you can get some heat ( not lots though ) on it and should free everything up

Just a side note... If the hex does round out I've had a lot of success using vice grips/lock jaws to remove those...

Just a word of advice-use new bolts Wink

just done that on my RM250 05.

Buy a soda blaster

Remove all parts and take of lot pictures so you remember..
clean the parts with the soda blaster , they will look new!
blast also the cylinder BUT not on the nikasil.

new hexagon screws och put copper paste the remounting.

Those were frozen on my RM as well. Ended up rounding out the allen heads, vice grips couldn't grip strong enough. I think I cut slots in them to remove with a screw driver. I replaced the bolts and never had an issue again. I recommend taking it apart to clean.

if you have not gotten them out yet, Get a torch and heat them up they will break free before you strip the allen. Trust me I know I have worked a few of them.
