Isn't it strange how the same riders continue to fall outside of normal guidelines no matter what position they are in?

He could have easily turned back on got on the track without a problem. Probably wouldn't even have lost a spot. You actually seem him sort of shrug and go on. Not a DQ but one position was real light. I think the AMA didn't want it to look like they were piling on him.

this guy (JPT)see's straight.whats wrong with the rest of you? I could not believe what i was seeing when he did not simply look left to make sure no one was coming and then just turn left and get on the track! He just shook it off and took off. Hell none of you must race, this is crazy!

A lap penalty would of been very unfair and possibly taken him out of the championship hunt. A 10 second penalty or whatever time it would of taken to finish the course he cut normally plus maybe a few seconds is the right thing. AMA did the right thing on that one. Now we get to see a possible showdown between the top guys.

On another note. Stewart not gaining any points sucks for him but good for the fans. Will make the likely hood of him running away with a big points lead a lot less likely and a more exciting season.

I agree it was a good decision but a Santioning body can't make rulings based on who it affects in the Championship.

Everyone should be treated the same, break the rules get penalized, if it affects you in Championship points don't break the rules.

All in all, it was a fair call. It has to be looked at case by case I think.

There is a precedence in punishment for a small, accidental track cut like that, typically a time penalty resulting in one position, i.e. Reed at Daytona last year.

I think that is a fair penalty in this case.

But if I pulled a move like that in a local race, I would be docked at least 5 spots.

The statement was made tongue in cheek. I don't think he took Canard out intentionally but I also don't think JLaw is the best rider out there. Still don't like him and there 39 other riders that I would root for to win the championship before him. I am still tired ot the media hype on the rivalry between Dungey and JLaw

the upside is he was penalized and it was a mistake, I think he could have gone back and entered where he left the track but as a racer you get caught up in the race and he just needs to keep his nose clean. You all know AMA will be watching him.
