Well after owning YZ's for the past 5 years I decided to change brands for s&g's
I bought this 03 CR125 with an open mindset (after weeks of research) I decided to bring it home. I rode it, I like it. Don't love it like my YZ's but it'll take some ride time... As you can see here, the tree challenged the bike

Needs fixed:
For starters the jetting is off, so I gotta fix that soon! It doesn't reach full RPM, like, it cuts out a little bit at full throttle.
Brake pads: they're paper ******* thin!
New levers: clutch perch is messed up, causes cable to go out of adjustment *tree incident*
Plus the brake lever gets caught up so the front brakes are sometimes 50/50 on function...good thing it's a 125!
Other than that, I just have to mess with the clickers to tune it well!
Any mod recommendations? Not looking to spend a load.

Ride it for a while and pick out what you don't like and think you could change...
Only mods-pretty much what you've said unless you consider the carb swap/reeds/new topend ( guaranteed to be stuffed ) head mods...
Suspension-check linkage for wear, replace and worn out parts. Set sag and if the forks/shock aren't leaking ride it and log clicker adjustments. Find your settings and then get what you don't like... If leaking I suggest getting the suspension serviced ( if you're that into your bikes ), I suggest servicing anyways but give it time in case you want valving mods done.....
That should get you started

I have an FMF Fatty pipe and PC shorty silencer and Boysen RAD valve. I put an oversized front rotor and then stuff to make it look good including the '10 front fender and number plate.
Of course that's the outside. I completely rebuilt the motor last year top to bottom including some of the tranny. I've also rebuilt the water pump and carb, but still need to go back in and adjust the float. Always something with a 2-smoker.
I did the
05 airboot
Drilled out the side panels for air flow
Rad Valve
PV mod
02 Power Valve flaps
PC pipe and silencer.
decked the head
Ported it
Put a PWK on it
then I bought a bone stock 05 YZ125 and it walked away from the CR. I traded it for a KDX lol
The best part about them is the way the handle, they turn on a dime. I still have the PWK if you are interested. Good luck
Fork fits the clamp, you need a new style caliper and axle, and from my memory the left/disc side distance need to be swapped, have not found a solution there yet, but if I remember correctly, the oem one is 7mm too long. There is probably an oem distance that fits..

Since the break the bike blew up on me AGAIN, trashed the cylinder and all! All due to a bad crank seal
All new bottom end and top end going into the bike. I rode it once at PEAK compression before it started to die again and its VERY snappy. The gearing (I believe) is 13/52. I'd like to change it to a 13/50. Possibly throw a KX125 stock pipe on it. I guess thats an improvement throughout the entire RPM range
Pics will be uploaded tonight of the current state plus the bottom end rebuild
