I shattered my calcaneous and broke my talus into 4 pieces on the Elevator at Gatorback late 90's. 2 plates 11 screws. It is the strongest bone in the body and they say most cases are from head on collisions. I limp pretty badly. This sucks for Josh. Hope he recovers quickly.
My son broke his Talus bone in one of his feet and it took months for him to get back on a bike with no pain. He didn't need surgery, but the Dr. was on the fence to do surgery or not to do surgery. They let it heal with out surgery and it took for ever.

Yep, broken talus on each side. The X Games doc was on hand with him, which was cool, but I have to say, it took way too long to get medical staff to him, and him off the track. Medic mule? Nope, not on hand.

I know they like to tout the effectiveness of their medical staff, but there are a couple glitches in the works.

Also, if you think the AMA sound testing doesn't do anything? Go to the X Games. At least some of the bikes were MUCH louder than normal.
interesting..

so the guys were running different set ups than they would for SX? or just different exhaust set ups?

I broke both ankles on june 14th. Had surgery on 15th. Will start weight bearing physical therapy next week. Been in a wheelchair, with casts on. Mentally after 3 weeks, I thought I can do this wheelchair etc. anymore, but i got over it. But being in the house for the first few weeks is what messes with mind, cause I culd not get up much cause when my legs wuld hang down the pressure on my legs was very uncomfortable. But it does get much better after first 3 weeks.

New appreciation for Dr Bodnar and the AMA medical staff. I asked the track personnel "where is Dr Bodnar" "where is the medic mule" Response "huh" I must say with all of the problems people think the AMA has, they are so much better then what we experienced at the X-Games. Dr Chao was great but, the rest of them. "Glitches" is an under statement.
