SX PAYOUT?

Bottom line is that the top 10-20 riders are gonna get the big bucks and the guys who have a hard time making the mains wont get much and theirs nothing you can do about it.

It seems to me that every other motorsports are making a change to everything to cut costs. AMA has done nothing to curb costs in supercross and motocross. It is not only the lack of purse money, but the lack of cost cutting measures.

I take it they got a bail out and are having it in some high price golf resort then.

Make up your mind is it just stewart and reed or now is it the top 10 to 20?

This thread was about the bottom riders getting the shaft. Stewart and Reed are the top two when its time to get paid but all the factory riders make great money. I am saying the best riders get the most money and thats who people pay to see.

Yea i have her some of the numbers from friends and they do seem to be a joke. The privateer riders are exploited beyond belief im sure.
Are you saying 1st place prize money is less if a privateer won than if a factory rider won?

Come on are you serious? Realistically im not saying a privateer cant win but the chances are very slim.
What i am saying is that the guys that are already compensated very well for their services are the ones that will more than likely win the prize money thats worth a crap.

What does 20th place pay out at your local track? They could probably show up there, get 1st and make more than they do for 20th at an SX, but they chose to show up and try anyway. I don't see how that is being exploited.

Having a Stewart vs Reed 1 on 1 race would draw more paying customers than a race with the bottom 20 riders at a national.
Are you serious?
Evryone knows that its James and Chad up front then a fight for 3-easily 12 every weekend.
And thats where all the great battles are happening.
Thats why I wish Speed would show the LCQ for every round, its the best racing!

SX or MX will never become "mainstream" if purses continue to stay the same.

Only about 220 licensed National AMA SX/MX racers today.

Only what; like 20 riders, maybe +/- a few more make a good living.

If a sport pays a good amount to support a family, home, nice vehicle, etc, you would see many more take up the sport, which would help the industry and bring in more riders to the local scene and as some rise up to qualify for the National ranks, you could see more fans follow along, especially in MX as well as SX.

You use to be able to make more if you were a top local rider in contingencies than a "prestigious" National two digit number would in purse dough. Even 30+ Pros could make a good couple thousand in contigency dough winning 3-4 classes each weekend.10+K a month; that was real living money.

That's sad and in another few years, they'll be less than 200 licensed Nat Pros. Use to be that many, if not more at a National Qualifying for 60 spots.

Sure we're in an economic funk now, but when we weren't.....it's BS to race and risk your life to pay $200 bucks to race and if make a main that gets you enough for your entry plus travel gas, motel and some food money, few nic-nacs.

450 sx 1st place pays 8 x what 450 mx pays , seems like alot more work for alot less money ! that's crazy - and then in mx 250's have the same purse as 450s but in sx 250's get about 1/5 the purse !

The bottom line is the non factory riders are dumber than shit. They are just happy to ride there scooters and let the track promoters prostitute them out for there gain. My suggestion to them is to stay home. Let there be a 12 rider gate and then they would see some changes. As long as these guys are happy to race for free the track promoters will be more than happy to take there entry fees and whore them out.

^I love it.^ Remember what happened in vegas though.

For every REAL privateer out there trying to make a living there are 5 kids out there on mom & dads dime. They don't care about making money because they don't have a dime invested anyway. They just want to be seen out there. As soon as the parents pull the plug they just quit; seen it a million times. Sadly enough; I don't think there will ever be a legit revolution for the amount of suck asses and rich kids in the sport.

Can you please resend the link to the Impound MX payout info? I couldn't get it to load.

You can find the last 4 years of AMA purse and how much each rider on the circuit was paid by the AMA here: http://www.nrgmx.org/News/AMAPay.html

Looking at thet payout, if I were a privateer, I'd skip the lites class altogether.

According to the list, the payout to make the night show is $550 for 40th. They got 37 entries last week, so that guarantee's you into the night show. If you get lucky and make the night show, that's $2200 (20th). That's just under WINNING the lites class. ($2500)

To get the same payout in the lites class, you need to finish 7th... which would you do?

Lites privateers must not be looking at that scenario. Just about a guarantee to make $550 just for entering. Hmmm..

Outdoor Nat's... I think I'd be a SX only guy too.
