Anyone use K&N Filters on your 4 strokes

As an experienced and professional mechanic and race team owner I have been using K&N filters for the past three years on ama national motocross and ama national ax cross bikes. As with any filtering product there is a scheduled maintenance that must be performed. My experience is that if properly installed and maintained K&N air filters will increase engine performance on a 250 F by about 1/2 hp without any other mods . Because we are a budget team anything that will increase HP like that out of the box is worth it as for the maintenance thats what be a mechanic is all about Ray Woods Team GPF babbitts Online

I will say it again. all of our team riders(d&s kawasaki-honda) use k&n filters. we have NEVER had any mechanical issues with these filters. what we have had is great rider support,great technical support and nothing but positive feedback. we also sell them in our store and use them in our service dept. my sun runs them in his bike we all personally use them.

We been racing with K&N for as long as I can rember and never had a problem with them just like change your oil do it right you never have a problem.

yup kinda like those BIG MOUTH filters that just came out they are easier to maintain and they give a HP boost (BM is supposed to be a full HP according to TWMX) im sold on it... ill probably buy one for my trusty 05 crf450 but then again i would love to get an 09 maybe next year so....

Air Filters are a huge part of racing and motor development and from the start K&N has been great for us at Team Faith we have used the air filter and oil fiter for the past three season indoors - outdoors - fmx without any dirt related issues and on our FMX bikes we cut most of the airbox out and still didnt suck dirt like some of you may have. Take your time to install the product and you wont have issues and your bike will make more HP!

Every motor the we build at Factory Tech Racing uses a K&N Filter and we are glad to have K&N Support our race team.

BTW, any good tacky Filter oil on a foam filter changed regularly isnt letting shit in.

With any other tacy oil you need that nuclear chemical cleaner to get the stuff off, No Toil basically uses Oxy Clean to get it off you can even use the No Toil cleaner for washing your gear and it works great!
I use gas, then dish soap and water.

Never sucked dirt in, even going to the dunes in Michigan or Oklahoma

The K&N Filters run great on my '08 Yz 250f and my Yz 450f. With our dyno testing we can see great horse power gain and they are much mor convinent to clean than conventional filters. I use th MX XStream K&N Filters in all my bikes, and I race motocross and arenacross. I have never had problems with dirt geting into my air box !

K and N filters for dirttbikes? insane. Eack K and N should come with a complete top end kit in every box. K and N style filters are fine for clean (street) use but putting one in a MX bike or any other off road vehicle is borderline retarded

user760 may have overstated his case a bit but he is correct, those filters are truly unfit for use in heavy dust or sandy conditions. Some years ago one of the big time two stroke motor builders did a test on K&N VS a stock Honda filter. They used a thin white filter (these filters were made to show if a home vacuum was able to pick up dirt after a floor was vacuumed by another brand) . Anyway they out this thin filter inside the air filter and over the carb where it connects to the air box boot. They ran the same bike and rider on the same track for the exact same amount of time making sure he did not explode berms etc to sway the results.

The stock Honda filter showed no signs of dirt or any color at all on the white test filter inside the air boot.

The K&N was totally plugged and caused the bike to stall before all the laps could even be run. If any of you people care to do this test it it really easy as i see it. Or just simply wipe a clean white rag inside the air boot after a dusty or sandy ride after using a K&N, you will never use one again and be plenty pissed that you ever did.

And further, just ask any of today's top race teams such as pro circuit what they use to make the huge horsepower they make and still make it through a day and maybe that will enlighten you.. NO ONE uses them that win pro races at the top level in MX period. Or call any top M/C motor builder in the nation and ask if he recomends running a bare K&N on a race motor in sand/dust MX race.

Frankly i am quite surprised that anyone that races and does not get them for free (and get free motors) would use them. I tend to think that all these "newbies" here that say they are great is the same guy who is in some way linked to K&N.
