He went to Europe with Eric McKenna, Phil Larson as a team...All three were part of a team that I think according to the mechanic rode Maicos...I may have misheard him; thought that's what he told me.

Think he was on Yammie's when he rode Nationals then. Thought he podiumed at "hometrack" Washougal in close to mid '80s.

Yeah Andy, I remember reading about when they all went to Europe to race the GP's, but I'm thinking that Eric Eaton made the top 3 in the Open class on a Maico with Howerton, or Bailey, or maybe Burgettt????

We're settling a little bench racing bet here...and I said I know "some guys" on the internet that might have been there.

I think it was the last race of the year and both Bailey and Glover dropped down to the 250 class that race to help out teammates....

Eaton won a 500 National at Washougal in 1985 on a Yamaha. I don't know about the podium thing.

Eaton, McKenna and Larson were the members of the Motocross Marketing team that went to Europe. Seems like I remember them riding Hondas, but not totally sure.

In 1985 Eaton had a yamaha support ride and he got second in the 500 nationals winning the last one. Dont ever remeber him being on a Maico.

I also dont remember Phil Larson ever being on a Maico either. I knew him and Mike From Honda. I met them in 82 so I dont know what he did before that but he went to europe to ride a Honda.

Funny, my best friend has Phil's brother Mikes old 390 Husky that he use to ride back in the day. At least one of 'em....
Think its like a '79. Told him he was full of shit until he showed me the title. In Mike Larsons name.....
I know, who gives a crap. Just since were talking about one Larson, might as well talk about another; if it only is this post.

The Larson brothers were both fast. They used to come up to western canada once in a while and lap all the canadian pros when I was still a junior & intermediate. I remember racing at Pasco Wash. (Horn Rapids OHV park) in '85 and watching Phil riding a KX500 on a brutal sand track in the middle of the summer heat. He was flyin'!!

.....that race was also the first time I ever heard of this kid on an 80 that was only 5-6 seconds off of Phil's lap times. The kid was Larry Ward and the punishment he gave that little bike was unreal on that chopped up and whooped out track.

Here is Mikey, Pete Treadwell and myself a couple years ago at screwydilla. I will never forget when Mikey broke his arm on a bmx bike on this huge 1/2 pipe I used to have, he was factory support Honda at the time and the shit really hit the fan. He really is a tough mutha fucker though. I dont remember him ever riding a Husky, They had Yamahas until about '81and then Honda. EE was a bad mofo on Maicos as was Scotty Tyler. That bike Leon did is dope, Larsons had so much old works yamaha shit laying around they couldnt give it away 20 years ago, now its gold.

I am just wondering if the phil Larson you are talking about is the same one that was going to ride the NEB/ Husqvarna KSI with Rolf Tibbin in the GP'S OF 1987.
