So that means Ricky Ryan's win in '87 was also a fluke since Keith Bowen chain broke and Ryans didn't and his fans are fags too?

What is [b:2wembfz0]funny[/b:2wembfz0] is how everyone jumped aboard the Reed bandwagon as soon as he started winning when he used to have about 2 fans on this board.

What's even [b:2wembfz0]funnier[/b:2wembfz0] is he (just like in 2004) is only winning because the better riders, #4 retired and #7 out with an injury.

What would be [b:2wembfz0]funniest[/b:2wembfz0] is if he blows it & Windham walks away with the title.

P.S.

I would be happy to express my opinions to anyone who would like to hear them in person.

Especially anybody talking shit about KW, nicest guy in the world, he don't deserve that sort of slagging.

I think Reed rode like a puss, the way he cut the track several times. It was plain to see that he was not man enough to come back on the track the way he was supposed to. Instead, after he fucked up, he cuts the track to stay in front of KWDub so he didn't have to eat shit like KDub did! If you don't think reeds cutting the track played into the lead he had before his bike went TU you're crazy! Between the two, KDub was the one who rode like a stud imo!

He was doing everything to stay ahead of Windham when he went off the track... He cut a couple corners, rode alongside the finish line bumps, and even cut back in front of Windham in a corner when re-entering. If he was so confident in his riding he wouldn't have to re-enter 100-150 feet in front of where he exited the track.

3/9/2008 7:32pm
sorry steve. i see stupid comments about reed and luck and i have to say eat shit to the losers that do not understand motocross the sport at that level....or any level. nobody lucks into a win as far as i am concerned. if you wanna cater to ass wipe posers on here that is your prerogative. if you want real people with real opinions on here good for you. if you wanna make money you gotta kick guys like me and dave off that don't take kindly to ignorant stupid wannabe posers.

love ya guyb...regardless.

I agree...but I think that people can (and should) get their opinions across without stooping to kindergarten battles.

If people took a little more effort at expressing their opinions it'd be a good thing. That goes for all message boards. Here, MT, etc. If we all work on making them better places, we all benefit. I think overall, they've all slipped. I'd like to try and help assist in stopping that slide.

sure...no doubt. but if some ass clown comes in here and sez "I can dip my hand in a bucket of hot boiling oil and then flip you off and like it" with no ill effects i am gonna say..."let's see it....I want to see how stupid you are". stupid ass people need not apply...that is my point. opinions rock, I love to argue my opinion against theirs. i might be wrong...they might be wrong. but there is no place for stupidity...it isn't subjective. anybody that sez it is is an ignorant jackhole.

I say everyone who gets lapped is credited with a DNF because they didn't finish all the laps.

Then you don't understand racing or the rules

He finished more laps and/or a greater overall portion/distance than those he lapped

It's real simple.

If I lap you twice and finish 99 laps of 100 and you only complete 98, I beat you, right?
If I complete 95 laps and you complete 50, I beat you, right?

I'm not afraid to say I don't know all the rule's of racing. How do they determine when enough guy's have went over the finish line behind the leaders? I guess I'm a little ol' school in thinking that if you break....you lose. Shit, Yamaha should have to build a bike that can finish the race dontcha think?

It's really easy.

Race is 20 laps
RC laps everyone twice and completes 20 laps, at that point the race is over and everyone else finished only 18 laps, correct?

So, using that thought, if RC and CR both lap the field twice and CR breaks on the last lap, RC completed 20, CR completed 19 and no matter how you look at it, everyone else still only finished 18 laps, right?

No matter what, RC finished 20, CR 19 and all other 18 laps
CR still finished more of the race than any of them without even finishing that last lap...he still completed one more lap than all the others

Get it?

dave...shut up! these stupid folks wouldn't understand if 25 different flow charts and BKM's were thrown at em.

I just had too understand the concept of when the first guy crosses the finish line....everyone after that is positioned by their transponder's....correct?

Sort of, it's not as if the field is frozen, only the laps are frozen

the bottom line is and what people aren't grasping here is that there isn't just one finish line, for every lap there is the same amount, equal to crossing the finish line. 20 laps you cross the finish line 20 times...not just once but 20 times, then the checkers is thrown and the finish line concept is pretty much over.

I love the shit stain comment...rememeber when you were a kid and you were in too much of a hurry to wipe yer ass? poor moms across america.

Another way to put it is, once the winner crosses the finish line, it becomes a 'race over' line for everyone. Every rider that crosses the line from that point forward is finished. Every rider on the same lap places behind the winner in the order that they cross the finish line. The rest of the places are ordered by how far they have managed to progress to that point. Windham and the next 5 riders all completed the full 12 laps. Reed was the first to complete a total of 11 laps, in front of Voss, short, etc, all of whose race was over on lap 11. Then they pushed him back a spot behind Voss for the track-cutting.

They shouldn't have shortened the race. Back in the day wouldn't it have been 20 still? And by back in the day I mean like 5 years ago.

I was bummed when Reeds bike blew up.. especially with two turns to go. I like Reed, and I agree that he needs more respect than he's given.
