CR has amazing luck. He lapped up to sixth place so he didnt lose a lot of points. In fact, I think Kevin is down by 22. If this DNF would have happened earlier in the race, the series would be a lot closer. Luck is the Lady.... Reedy!

Man, I was going to be very impulsive, and irresponsible and get one on credit, instead, I'm going to save some money and hopefully buy one in the next couple months. I will get one, just not now. My thumper will suffice for now.

It was insane

On the last lap, Reed's bike started blowing steam out the pipe...out the silencer...at that point, I knew e was dead unless he could nurse it home.
With about 1/4 lap left, it slowed and then stopped.

Never started again

No kidding, in his heat race he was consistently 9-10 seconds a lap faster than 2nd and 3rd place and he rode a solid main event. Nobody likes dnf's but with the conditions no one can blame him.

Chad has got to feel gutted. He completely owned that race. Wonder what exactly failed on the bike?

Now that was an old time motocross race. No poosies allowed. Rain-or-shine. No mulligans. Mechanicals are part of racing.

A 2-smoker woulda been a safer bet.

You could tell it was only a matter of time before that engine blew. With all of that water going through the motor (evident from smoke coming out the exhaust), that thing was a ticking time bomb. I would think that they should have water proofed the bike a little better to prevent the sucking of water. Being an off-road guy, that would be the first thing I would take care of if I saw standing water on the track. Lesson learned for next time?

next time he'll be on a different bike...

DNF still means did not finish! How can you score points if you do not finish????

Did you see the flame coming out the exhaust right before it quit and the loss of compression? My guess would be a broken valve.

So if Reed can get 15 points with a DNF because he lapped up to sixth, then how many points do the other guys who's bikes were stuck in the track get? All the guys who got lappped and finished got their lap back from him when his bike broke. I'm sure some were lapped twice, some more. So what gives?

He finished 11 laps, so basically he is place right behind the last guy on that lap.

I did catch that. I would think a bent, stuck or broken valve too. You could see the bike appeared to kick really light when Reed tried to fire it up again, no compression likely.
