yeah how do you go on after your 10yo kid dies on a mx track ?

RIP little guy! Shit like this is what keeps me from taking my son to the mx track. I know it it can happen anywhere, but I just couldnt live with myself if this were to happen.

I understand that this really makes some people ask a lot of questions about whether they should participate, but, the way I feel is that if that young man sacrificed his long, wonderful life ahead because he was doing what he love, then this tired old fart has no right to quit. He gave much more than I have left. I'll ride in his honor.

The fact is I am not a big fan of modern MX. The reason we race the WORCS is because of promoters SX'in up there outdoor tracks. Plain and simple. However, Scotty you know there are big monsters that can bite out in the desert too. Let's not kid ourselves that the only danger in this sport is jumps. It isn't. You can't let the fear of dying get in the way of the thrill of living.

I am broken hearted for his family and friends as I would have been for anyone who loses a kid. Remember this poor little guy could have been killed playing Pop Warner football, little league baseball, or an accidental drowning too and there would have been a peep about it on any message boards.

A childs death is terrible no matter how they die.

Ya I know what you mean. Its tough be a parent, especially in this day and age of the internet. 10 years ago, we would have never heard about this kind of stuff. I feel horrible for the family, and godspeed to the little guy!

yep. because of the accident at Parker Valley, Cody Fiddler died when a 85cc super mini landed on his peewee bike. it was sureal for sure that day. its definetly worse being there and seeing it unfold.

We have just had one here in South Africa,............. Logan Capper (11), who won the 65cc Junior Motocross National Championship in 2006, passed away last night (Monday). Logan suffered severe head injuries after an accident whilst taking part in an unofficial practice at the Johannesburg Motocross Club facility in the south of Johannesburg on Sunday.
He won the 2008 season opening regional championship 85cc event at the club on the 19th of January to set himself up as one of the title favourites for 2008.
In 2007 he participated in 2 Regional Events in February and in March on an 85cc. In February he respectively came 2nd and 4th in the two heats and during March 1st and 2nd during the two heats. He missed most of last year’s season due to injuries.
Capper is the cousin of multiple SA Supermoto Champion, Brian Capper.
After the accident, Capper was admitted to the Mulbarton Hospital in Johannesburg and passed away on Monday night as a result of his injuries.
Capper leaves his father Dean, his mother Evelyn and sister, Samantha.
Motorsport South Africa, its Board of Directors, the Motocross Commission and the Northern Regions Motocross community mourns the loss of this very talented young rider and express its sincerest condolences to the family, friends and the motocross community.

The funeral service will be on Friday, 1 February at 14:00 at Honeyridge Baptist Church.

This kind of tragedy happens in other more popular sports as well.

It seems obvious the helmets are not doing enough to protect against these serious head injuries. Maybe there could be more innovation in them or maybe they are as best they can be. I don't know. Just sad.
