If you take off the Alessi colored glasses, you can't help but realize that based on past history ol' number 800 is more likely to crash himself out of Supercross and wreck his chance for outdoors.

I didn't become a fan of mike because
he was winning everything so what you say
about him winning doesn't matter to me
when I first saw mike race I dug his ability to haul fucking ass on a open scooter, twisting the shit out of that throttle and charging on every part of the track...and he was maybe 120lbs with gear.
His desire to race anywhere anytime regardless of his chances is pretty fucking ballsy too. local, regional, national...if yer a racer you want to race at every opportunity and mike is a racer. i think that is very cool.
and i am hoping he stays healthy...that goes for all of em for that matter. but thanks for pointing out these issues that mike has you fuggin debbie downer killjoy.

Show's up to race the final rounds of his rookie and sophomore season for the TITLE!
Then runs with the big boy's the next year appearing on the box behind bubba and RC with another chance at a title in the final round. Then establishes himself as the next guy behind Bubba until a nasty crash and you say it never was?
Mike hits the deck because he is pushing himself that much. I watched him at Freestone and Mikey was hauling frickin' ass. He just needs to get acclimated to that pace.

Personally, I have always admired Mike's never give up attitude and hope he doesn't wad himself up this year in SX so he can enter the Nat's healthy.
I guess I just simply look at the facts and and as good a racer as Mikey is, it's starting to get old hearing about how he is the next best thing...
As far as the racers I have always thought (and still may) will do well - I like the two Josh's - Grant and Hansen - Lord knows I've take'n some shiat for holding out for one of these two to have a championship year.
As far as the morons who always want to post up that you can't seem to have an opinion on a rider unless you are faster than said rider - How frig'n lame - that eliminates 98% of this board - give me a break!

“The race was actually pretty good, especially since I haven’t been riding for a couple of months because of my leg injury. The Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 was running good – there was a lot of power and the suspension was spot-on. The whole team was working great and everybody was helping me out. In the main, I didn’t get a good start – I was about 10th and, then, in the second turn there was a pile-up and I got caught up in it. I had to turn around and get back on the track and I started dead last. But I went from last to 11th, and I just tried to run my own race and ride consistent laps and run the pace I felt comfortable with. It’s good to get the first race out of the way.”
Suzuki will then have them both... Reed in SX and Alessi in MX.
I wasn't a big fan mostly because of Tony. Then when Mike pulled that stunt at GH I really didn't like him.
Since then, Mike has done nothing but put his head down and try as hard as he can, which is more than we see out of most factory riders.
In my eyes, Mike has learned some important lessons and deserves my respect, but mostly I admire him for trying so freaking hard all the time.
I'm a fan.
I didn't care for mike at first , but these last few years , he's buckled down , and rode his ass off! I admire him for his determination , heart and desire. So what if he isn't the SX specialist some people want him to be....you'll change your tune when everything switches to outdoors. Look at J.Mc , and how he killed everyone in SX for so long....but outdoors , he was considered "average". I think lil' Mikey is the same when it comes to be awesome outdoors , and just "Average" indoors. Will he dominate outdoors??.....NO , but you'll see him on the box every friggin' weekend as long as he stays healthy. Is Mike my favorite rider?.....NO , but you have to admit , the kid has heart , and wants it bad!
A what point does reality sink in to the "Alessi fans" that it ain't look'n so good?
I know he has a shot for the outdoors next year, but first he has to SURVIVE SX and then he will be dealing with riders like RV, Townley and Grant.
Really - take a look at history and the past Motocross/SX Champions. Riders don't continue to get the opportunities Mike has had and then finally win a Championship, especially as of late - You either go to the top and stay there until the next anointed one comes along or never make it.
Mitch implied that he was glad RV listened to him and that the maturity RV was now bringing in to the 450 class would make for a much more realistic chance of RV having a shot at the title.
Sanbagging? I think I'll go with Mitch's reasons as to why RV stayed in the 250f class.
but what does Payton know anyways....
