The Frustration here is what it always seems to be, just a poor system.
1 says his & the other ALAWYS seem to follow.
There needs to at the least be a 3rd opinion.
This 3rd person, would not be either an FIM or AMA person.
Say for example, Jim Holley.
Not really tied to any1.
He's already there, so whether or not it's him, a 3rd opinion is long overdue as far as being necessary in these decisions.
I've witnessed this personally over & over in my career when interfacing with them that's unfortunately how it always goes.
I've never heard any difference in opinions once 1 speaks 1st.
The Teams & Riders, etc., are done before even sitting down!!
Sad but very true.
The TRUTH HURTS, but that's it in a nutshell.

Kevin Crowther: "Was it the best location for that flag? That’s debatable." ... "But it was clear that the cross flag was out and waving so at that point it’s the rider’s responsibility to see it."

I suppose he is right, it is the riders responsibility to see the flags.

What is going to get the AMA/FIM in trouble on this one is another scenario.
Rider coming out of a corner into a triple, sees the flag, but checks up and only does a double. Does he get penalized or not? He showed intent to not do the jump, which he just said was OK because it's not a "wheels on the ground" flag.

HMMMMM. That's a precedence I don't think they should have set.

this...

You should not take the win away, this is where I agree with NASCAR, the fans should not find out the outcome after they leave. Have it set up where fines and or points are deducted.

and this...

If I was Dungey or DeCoster...I'd be pissed that they endangered Dungey by not showing him ( In clear view ) the red cross flag. It doesn't only endanger the downed rider ,but the riders they are trying to show the flag to.

Possibly double up on the flaggers would be a good decision. Have them on both sides of the track and make sure when the red cross flag needs to be out , everyone see's it!

The flagger in this incident had the flag down by his hip , on the way inside of the corner , where Ryan was railing the far outside....how the hell was he going to see that?

Dungey got hosed

Shouldn't the flagger be in front of the downed hurt rider ? Not on the opposite side of the track ?

I would think they would have to be in front of the jump. What good would it do to be in front of the down rider?
Figured being in front of the jump is a given in the statement of being in front of the rider.

Dungey got fucked.

Worst case they should have taken 5 points away.

Never saw so many 'As you can imagine...' or 'To be honest with you...' in 6 paragraphs before.
