Letting it all hang out

How far back can you remember riders having the " win or crash " mind set? I am 32 years old and really got into racing in the early 90s when MC was dominating. But I don't remember him riding like that??(he didn't have to)
Guys that would win or crash: TP 199, JS7,RC4,RV2, DAmond Bradshaw?

One of mc's best traits was looking fully in control even though he was on his jagged edge....

Rocket Rex took a few really harsh dirt samples in his day.

Bob Hannah without a doubt would hang it out. Toss up between him and Magoo. When Hannah returned after his broken femur, he was way out of control but still kept it pinned. I've never seen anyone ride so out of contyrol and keep it on two wheels. Took him a while to get "it" back to some degree...

Ezra Lusk was a prime example.
