front tire sizing?

I ride primarily a sand mx track and I recently went from an 80/100 to 90/100 Starcross 5 and wish I would have done it sooner.

I went from the stock 80/100 Bridgestone M404 to a 90/90 Dunlop MX52F on my KX450f and i don't like it for MX and sand. The tire is noticeably heavier to steer, harder to get into ruts, and skates on top of the sand.

Try tubeless, since your willing to experiment, with being able to ride at 7lbs pressure, you get a lot of bite with the front tire

A Dunlop 52 is not for sand - believe me I had one - use a 32 instead.

For sand, this is the shit!

In sand I loved when I went from 80/100-21 to 90/100-21. So much more tire on the ground. The only problem I had was when I went to that 90/100 I had a common issue of the front tire wanting to ride up and out of the ruts because the little amount of width that is added.
So I'd say.
SOFT, INTERMEDIATE, HARD W/NO RUTS DIRT: 90/100 tire would be good.
INTERMEDIATE, HARD W/LARGE RUTS: 80/100

I only use one front tire now and it's a gt216aa. They call it a fatty for a reason. Sticks everywhere and in any condition. Also wears crazy slow. I always run it with a super thick tube at 15 psi. Plenty of high praise reviews

I've been researching this tire today but not real sure I'm ready to drop the dough on it. I did find a decent price online of $93 with free shipping. Still $20 more than the usual bridgestone m203 I usually run.

I'm mainly concerned that it will negatively affect turn in and not settle into ruts as well.

I've had mine on for a full year. Granted I haven't ridden as much this year but it still got rode a lot and its just now starting to get rounded off and break traction a little more.
I mostly ride on high mountain deserts of northern nv(rocks,hardpack,silt) and some of my riding is in southern nevada (deep sand, clay/sand mx track) this tire sticks everywhere. It was a little weird at first cause you can feel the extra weight when flat out, but its turned into a welcomed stable feeling. The ruts issue I cant really comment much as I'm not very good in them period, but with my skill I've never had a problem that I could chalk up to the tire and not my form. I personally feel it is a front tire that has given me confidence that it will stick when I need it too and go where I tell it to.
It may not be stickier then a specifically made tire in a given area but it is a tire that has great grip everywhere.

I have a Honda 23" front with an original Bridgestone in pretty good shape ... you'll glide over everything like it wasn't even there !
It really needs a good home.
