Need some Vitard Knowledge regarding attending A2 with my 6year-old son. Been several times in the last few years, but always solo so it was "arrive just before gate time and get out fast" and have never been to practice or pit party. This time we're going early for pit party and practice, and I don't know how things work regarding that stuff.
Questions: 1. Can we go in and out of party and or stadium before the big show starts? This would help with eating and a possible nap for the boy. Don't wanna eat stadium food if we don't have to, and if we show up as early for pit party he's liable to be spent by early evening. 2. How early do we have to line up for autographs? He's got Dungey's and wants to get Tomac's...3. Will they let us bring a backpack into pit party to carry snacks/clothes etc? I know you can't in the stadium, but some "spares" are sometimes helpful with a 6 year-old....
Thanks for your help, and yes Big Lenny, when it comes to Supercross I'm still kind of a NOOB.....(despite seeing Hannah dominate in the Pontiac Silverdome late 70s and early 80s.) It's a whole different ballgame now...

1. Yes, you can come and go as you wish. There are places to eat north of the stadium.

2. I don't line up for autographs but the lines usually form during the first practice as the autographs are between the two timed practices. They usually either hand out tickets to guarantee you an autograph or they try to sign until everyone gets one.

3. You can bring a backpack with anything but food although I've had snacks like an protein bar and never had an issue.

I brought my son to his first one last year and he was 7. Here's what I learned: if he wants an autograph from a top guy, you're gonna stand in line for a long time and that's probably the only one you will get. Luckily, my son wasn't interested in autographs too much so we just walked around the privateer pits and went up to riders that were easily accessible. Josh hill and nick wey were two of the nicest risers we were able to talk to (neither of which racing now though). We also found a spot on the fence where the riders leave he pits and head to the stadium to watch them ride down and he thought that was awesome. We did the entire day, watched all the practices, everything. I'll admit, that made for a pretty long day for him. Don't get me wrong, he loved it, but he was definitely exhausted by the time the mains came around. I think we are gonna come in a little bit later this year and see if that works batter. Oh, one other thing, my son loved looking at the ktm junior pits, so that might be a good stop as well. It's important to remember that stuff adults take for granted and aren't impressed by, might be some of the coolest things for a kid. Hell, I've always spent more to get better/closer tickets on the bottom level, but we walked around the stadium just kill some time last year and he was more impressed sitting up high, so I got those tickets this year instead. I never would have thought that, but oh well.

I used to love going for all the practices, everything possible.

Now if I do that it seems like all of the WOW factor is completely gone by later in the evening and I feel like your legitimate enthusiasm for the the main events is going to be compromised.

Could be ADHD or ADD, I may need aderrall for the mains. I'm looking into a TUE for STL so I can spectate WFO.

Have fun at the race! Smile

Get a good start, don't crash. Crashing may cause you to lose the flow, which subsequently will cause you to lose the mindset of a champion.

How was your experience? Attending my 1st ever supercross race with my 2 year old in Indy and I'm not sure what to expect. It would be cool if he met Dungey but I don't want to ruin the experience by waiting in line fo hours just for an autograph. I have the same questions you have so I'm curious to hear how your experience turned out. The biggest concern I have is making sure we get a nap in before the main.

Sometimes the pros are signing autographs outside the track at a local dealer or the like. It might be worth trying to find out if your favorite rider might be signing elsewhere.

Thanks. I guess I can try that. I'm new to all of this and coming from PA to Indy for the event. It's no big deal if we can't meet Dungey was just curious how the whole thing works.
