mmmm those are sexy.

i heard they are 850cc now and 3.5" lugs? insane.

side note, i'm headed to West Yellowstone with the Brett Rassmussen crew for the RideRassmussenStyle backcountry clinic, we're riding Monday through Wednesday.

i'll be sure to take a ton of pics and hopefully some video.

Aww you lucky bastard! Brett is one of my favorite riders, I'm peanut butter and jealous for sure!!

Supposedly the 850 is only about 10 hp more than the 800, but apparently it's substantially lighter. Looks like it's quite a bit narrower too, which should help with sidehilling

Also wondering why they felt the need to go to a 165" instead of the 163". Seems like it would limit your track choices...

Hell yeah man, that sounds like a blast!

Here is my 2016 Polaris Pro 163. Got fox Evol's on it now. So far it's been good. Will probably put an SLP pipe on it.

The 2017 Doos look awesome. I'm curious to see what the new Yamahas will be. BNG or new platform? If I was buying now, it would the the Doo with a 165

I love the look of the Polaris sleds, probably even a tad more than the Dooskis.

Were you having problems with the Walker Evans or were you just upgrading for performance?

Haven't heard anything from my Yamaha rep about anything new yet, but they're not supposed to tell us anyway, so we'll see what they come out with...

never been a fan of the Polaris but that's a good looking sled.

my dad picked up the '16 SkiDoo 163 with the 3" track... most amazing sled i've ever ridden.

i liken it to the difference between a stock 163 with 2.5" track to a turbo 163 with the 2.5" track. it's THAT good.

here's my '14 SummitX 163. it came with white side panels but i just switched out with the red, she looks good on the hill but i really want those 3" lugs...

I went with the Evol's cause the walkers were too soft. I'm 6'2 and a tubby 230, my son is 6'4 240 or so.... And they were too soft. The Evol's on "snowcross" are nice and firm.

I get it for sure. I actually the last time out, rode a 2016 Doo with the 163-3" back to back with mine. I think I preferred the Doo. And, trust me when I say, I am NOT brand loyal at all. Not even a bit. I bought the Pro cause I wanted the lightest most flickable sled. It probably is, but the doo is so close, I would have took the extra traction and teeeeeeeny bit of extra top end power. The 2016 pro is incredibly snappy down low. Let me tell ya... They are all so close it's not even funny. The 2017 Doo looks Awesome!!!

Well, in typical Yamaha fashion, it will probably be pretty boring, and heavy, but a company like that, that has the technology they do... you would think it would be a slam dunk to build a competitive, direct injection twin sled that is light. But, doesn't seem to be the case. As usual, they are throwing videos out about how every other sled will be "Snowdust".... lol

March 1st I guess we see. Im betting factory turbo on a heavy old tank. lol

Skidoo really sent a message to their competitors this year. They updated so much stuff chassis, motor, and the front suspension the list goes on and on. Glad to see the crank bearings finally getting lubed the correct way. None of that isoflex crap. Reminds me I have to rebuild my 600carb this year one of my cylinders has low compression.

I heard for mountain riding anything over 155 is over kill. Unless you like high marking? Rumor is polaris has a 170ish track option coming this year. Cat fans are going to be mad about that 850 they always gotta have the most hp, fastest, biggest displacement sleds. Apparently their new 800 ctec won't come out this year.

I actually had to revalve my walker Evans because they were too stiff for ditch banging. A couple times I felt my spine compress on impact .

I felt the same way... We had some demos that we took out last week and I rode our new Pro-X Rush 800 after spending some time on the Pro-S and holy hell what a difference! I'm by no means a small guy, so the stiffer springs and upgraded valving on the Pro-X were a welcome change. For the riding I do it's the best performing sled on the market, IMHO

EDIT: I just now noticed you said you needed them softer, not stiffer... in that case, I disagree lol

We get alot of hard packed trails with squared off bumps ,before the walker Evans even knew it was time to go to work ,my spine was already feeling it.

Just for my own curiosity, who did the revalve for you? Did it help?

i've ridden the SkiDoo 174 quite a bit and it feels like overkill until your on the side of a steep and deep climb and want to roll it uphill and go straight up. my 163 is the perfect mountain sled, only wish i had the 3" lugs.

most guys riding 155 will be able to go most anywhere that a longer track will, but they'll be working it a lot harder in most cases.

I used a local guy that always does my bike suspension . It absolutely made the ride softer and I was able to actually use the clickers instead of leaving them on one.

I'm with Peely. 155 is super maneuverable, but in soft snow if you are a big guy, they give up a bit. 174 is a bit of a locomotive, unless you absolutely powder ride. Then even a 174 is short. Lol. I love my 163-2.6"er. Almost wish at times I would have bought the 3" as well Peely, but I ride at the farm a bit so I compromised. The 2016 Doo 163-3"er I rode was really nice in Revy in the soft deep stuff. Noticeably better than my 2.6"er

All the new tech on the Skidoo is cool, but man is that thing ugly.

Ahhh..,. that likely makes sense hey? Must be way stiffer valveing on those ones maybe? My new Axys chassis was sloppy soft. I think their intent was to try to get the new mountain chassis to be really easy to lay over, but it was gross the way it was. Bottoming all the time, and like riding a wet sponge.

The Fox Evols are more of how I like them. Kind of like a motocross bike in a way.

Take care sir.

Was watching a review of the 16 skidoo 163' w/ 3inch lug. They commented on how much different and better the 3 inch lug was to the 2.5-2.6 inch lug. Literally stop on the side of a hill and start going again in deep powder crazy stuff!

I remember when 136 was considered a long track not too long ago. Not many people seem like flat landers here, but why have the trail sleds gone to longer tracks? 129 looks like the standard and cat even offers some in 137 for a trail sled.

My dream would be for the triple-triple sleds to return with a complete DI system putting out 200hp in a modern chassis. Chances of actually happening zero Sad

really just different types of riding. on a groomed cat-track a trail sled will walk away from a mountain sled.

but you aim that thing to deep power or any type of a hill and you want the longer track.

as for the 3" lug versus the 2.6" lug... i compare it to riding a turbo 2.6" versus riding a stock 2.6". it really is that much of a difference.

All we have to ride is flat land trails , the moguls wear out to a 121" track , if you hit the same moguls on a 136" track they almost disappear because of the rear skid spanning the gap instead of following through them .

I ride arctic cat, so maybe I'm biased, but that polaris is FUGLY. Now the ski doo above is pretty sexy!
