Do any of you ride yours after a full restore? I have mixed feelings about riding mine or not. Just curious as to what y'all do? I want to ride it like one or 2 times, but it will never be the same after ridden. Just curious about what y'all do.

In my opinion I think it depends on how rare the bike is/sought after by others. Investing 5k or more into a bike and months, if not years into a build I would at least want to ride it one time. After a few laps Id put it away because if something breaks or goes wrong inside the engine it cannot be replicated.

I don't own any factory or ex team bikes, wish I did, but, I feel same way about riding my regular restored bikes after the cost & sometimes headaches of a full restore. Here is what I started doing. Just perform a full mechanical restore, do not be to concerned with cosmetics, then ride/ race it until you get it out of your system, then do the full restore to garage queen status. The final cosmetic restore will much more rewarding knowing you won't be destroying it a some mud hole track.

Yep probably just as heart wrenching as riding your brand new fully restored pride and joy. I'm dreading putting tyres on my new rims let alone taking them to dirt.

Spydee motion pro makes these things called rim shield and or rim protectors that stop the dreaded tyre iron scratch

I'm passes that point. It's a garage queen stage. I dunno being a Honda nothing has to be re painted so, I think I'm gonna go ahead and ride it.

I don't own a pros bike, but this is my take on the subject.

If it is a random racers bike, ride it and enjoy it. If it is a sport historical item than restore (or don't) and let it be art.

I neither have owned an ex pro bike, but if it was me I'd definitely have a ride of it before you put it away to look at. To keep it looking in its prime, I'd duck tape all the high wear areas such as where your boots rub on the frame and engine cases. Also if you have an old plastic kit throw that on. Enjoy your bike dude

My brother has a former gp bike which I restored last winter and he has ridden many times after that.
